Ahh. The exciting, riveting, sometimes crazy world of YouTube. Admit it, we are all guilty of wiling away hours and hours on it somehow. Whether you go there for 15-minute workout videos, the latest update on your favorite vlogger, or advice on how to once and for all friggin’ get your life in order from ‘lifestyle gurus’, we all have a reason to keep coming back. In my case, these three YouTubers and YouTube channels are definitely part of why I’m so hooked on the platform. Some of these channels only come up when you search for them in Japanese, so I’ve linked everything below. ナスDの大冒険版 (Th ..read more

Today I would like to share how to print documents at 7/11 through the internet using the service called ‘Netprint’. Netprint has been an absolute lifesaver for me and is a utility which I think will be a great help not only to other residents in Japan but also to those who would be traveling here (you never know when the urgent need for printing travel documents would come up). It is very convenient because: you do not need any USBs or phone connectors you can do it from practically everywhere (because 7/11s are everywhere) you can do it anytime (for the same reason written above) How it W ..read more

Kabi Tornado: Better Way To Clean Your Washing Machine In Japan?

When I was just starting my blog and YouTube channel, one of my most viewed contents was regarding how to clean your washing machine. Apparently, I am not the only foreigner in Japan who has been having issues with this. Although I still swear by the product and method I introduced in that blog, there is another product I have been eyeing every time I go to my local drug store. Brilliantly named Kabi Tornado (Kabi means ‘molds’), this caught my attention because on the shelves, they always had this video of how effective it supposedly is – a very convincing play by play of clumps of molds swi ..read more

Exciting news my fellow Nihongo learners! I have found THE best new Japanese learning app out there! In this blog post, I tell you what that app is and why exactly I think it is worth getting. My Experience: Struggling With Getting Started And Keeping Motivated As they say, in any endeavor, getting started is the most difficult part. Getting from zero to one. That was definitely true in my experience of studying Japanese as well. The desire was there but I could just not, for the life of me, find the right tool to get me started on the right track. Are you on the same boat? Well, worry no mor ..read more

I was super excited last week when a representative of Sakuraco reached out to me through my website letting me know that they would want me to review their October 2021 box. Being an uber fan of Japanese snacks, I ,of course, accepted the gracious offer and within just a couple of days, I had in my hand my very own Sakuraco box. I was, right away, impressed with the fast delivery and the very cute packaging that it came in but before opening it, I honestly had no idea just how much happiness this little box can contain! Surviving Japanese Summer With Babies

I have never been a big fan of Japanese summers – and if you are living in Japan, you probably already know why. The heat I’m used to – I’m from a tropical country after all – but the humidity. Oh my God, the humidity is so freakin’ annoying. In the past though, I simply considered it an inconvenience. Something easily remedied by staying inside air-conditioned rooms as much as possible and hibernating at home, binge-watching Criminal Minds instead of going out during days I’m not in the office. Once I had my son however, going out to “enjoy” and play under the sun had become a non-negotiable ..read more

Reality Of Being A Foreign Mom In Japan

A few weeks ago, a fellow foreign mom living in Japan who has seen some of my videos on YouTube reached out to me via private message. Having just given birth this year, she shared about her struggle and asked for some advice – one mom to another. At that moment, I was honestly gripped with guilt because this had been a topic I have been wanting to speak about in this humble platform that I have. It has been more than a year since my son was born and for that entire time, we have not left Japan for even a single day. It gets easier, I tell you that. If you’re a new mom, let me say that again ..read more

Muji’s Itsumo Moshimo Set: Worth it?

Mindful of the threat of a devastating earthquake that experts say could hit the Kanto area within the next thirty years, my husband and I have already taken precautions and put together everything we could possibly need. Last year, I wrote an entire blog about why we should take this threat seriously and all the preparations we’ve made. Presently, we have two emergency ‘go-bags’ plus a portable power supply that we could also grab should there be a need to evacuate. This sort of preparation is nothing new for Japanese people. The country is notorious for the number of earthquakes that occur ..read more
