Davidson cancels remainder or Women’s Basketball Season

The Davidson College athletic department announced Friday that the remainder of the 2023-24 women’s basketball season has been canceled due to a significant number of injuries. The Wildcats, who started the year a program-best 12-1, highlighted by a win at Duke, conclude the campaign 18-8 overall.   Davidson College Statements The physical, mental and emotional toll of this unfortunate and injury-riddled season has brought us to this point. USA Basketball announced today the 2024 USA Basketball Women’s Junior National Team coaching staffs. Leading the 2024 USA Women’s U18 National Team is Teri Moren (Indiana University) who will be assisted by Niele Ivey (University of Notre Dame) and Jose Fernandez (University of South Florida).  Moren, Ivey and Fernandez will lead the USA at the 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup June 17-23 (location TBA by FIBA Americas at a later date). The USA will look to capture its 11th-straight gold medal and 12th overall since the tournament’s inception in 1988 ..read more

Averyeon Quick is out as the head women’s basketball coach at Clinton College (SC). There has been no release yet by the college, but Denisha Hall is now listed as the interim women’s basketball coach. David Wells has resigned as the women’s basketball coach coach at D3 Buena Vista University (IA). Wells had been the Beavers head coach for the past five seasons, where he put together a 19-85 (.183) record. This year, BVU went 3-20 (2-14 American Rivers Conference). Prior to his time at Buena Vista, Wells had served as an assistant coach at Metropolitan State Denver (2013-19) and Millersville University (2011-13). A national search is expected.
