About the only powders I have availability for and looking for fast burning powder for light 1 0z skeet loads. Plan to load in aahs since its the highest pressure producing hull. Cheddite primer. Have read most reviews online and appears most like it better than PP which is also available. However, it appears to have its issues. Sure wish I could get some more E3 or Clay dot but actually hate to waste those on skeet loads as availability looks poor long term and pricing is a joke. Most... Anyone have one they would be willing to share? Essentially I am looking for this, or something close to it, in Excel form: Reloading Cost Calculator Thanks ..read more

Is reloading buffered bismuth worth it?

I have been shooting Boss bismuth shotshells for the last several years on my limited duck and goose hunts and have been very happy with the results. I am planning on increasing my hunting this year and am looking into reloading my own bismuth shells. I had been shooting the Boss legacy shells and it looks like it is about a wash to reload that shell or just buy them from Boss. I am thinking about switching to the buffered warchief shell and it looks like I can reload those for about .50... Is reloading buffered bismuth worth it ..read more

Bismuth meets hammer test

I just watched a video in which Lead, Bismuth, Steel, and TSS shot (broken down from shotshells) were super glued to a sheet of metal, and then hit with a hammer. The Lead shot flattened, the Steel and TSS looked pretty much unfazed, and the Bismuth shot was literally turned into dust. Go to the 1.40 mark ..read more

Just came from a friends house to see his new Dillion SL 900. That is one hell of a machine. He has all the options including the hull feeder. What is he up against? It looks far more complicated than my MEC 9000G, and my reloads look better than his although he is just starting out. I'm sure they will get better. He paid $1400 about twice the price of a MEC. Is it worth it ..read more

This has not been a good few days with my 9000! Long story short(ish), I was de-priming some Gun Clubs and the shell lifter started dragging and popping out of the lifter bracket. Looked around and figured out that the whole loader was way over due for a serious cleaning. Waaay over due so this afternoon I reviewed Curly's sticky and went at it. Everything went pretty smoothly and I got it all cleaned and lubed and back together and then before cleaning up, I cycled the handle. It felt... MEC 9000 - Collet Stuck Closed ..read more

So I've seen at least 3 up for sale locally and just found one on Craigslist for $1000, are these presses sought after, or worth that much cash? I'm considering trying to get the local ones if they can be had for a good price, cleaning them up and make sure they function properly and possibly sell them off for some profit but I know nothing about them. I like my MEC presses just fine so I've always walked by the presses from other manufacturers with little to no interest. Should I start... Hornady 336 presses ..read more
