Swiss Music Export

At long last, they’re back! Seven years after their last album, the multi-facetted electronica/vocal duo OY release their fourth album via Mouthwatering Records. Entitled “World Wide We”, it is their “statement for global solidarity”: “It’s the uplifting soundtrack to our most challenging times ,” they write. “A call to focus on what we have in common as a global society and to keep the bigger picture in mind.” Defining their eclectic blend of influences as “electronic global pop music with afrofuturistic narratives”, OY, during their ten years of existence, have always striven to combine th ..read more

Mega Goes Into Overdrive
Swiss Music Export
by SME Zurich

Riding in on a wave of inspiration and recognition for his talents, Vevey-based rapper Mega has launched himself into the new year with a triple-bang. Starting off with the single “Berger” featuring French rapper So La Lune in January, he followed this up with an EP, “MH:H” in mid-February, and a collaboration with eyewear designer Nirvan Javan and the Zurich-based artist/designer Tymen Goetsch for the truly spectacular (sorry, couldn’t resist) video to go with “Berger”. Raised in Vevey, a town near Montreux at the Eastern end of Lake Geneva, Mega was introduced to the joys of music at an ea ..read more

Poligone’s Accidental Debut
Swiss Music Export
by SME Zurich
1y ago
Newly formed synth-chanson duo Polygone are launching their career with an EP, “Par Hasard”. Released via Irascible on 24 February 2023, the title – “by accident” – refers to the accidental nature of the meeting of these two artists, although, of course, they won’t tell you how it actually did happen. Be that as it may, Hugo Dordor is a super-busy member of Lausanne’s extensive musical community, playing drums for a variety of outfits including Minus One, Your Fault and Potlach. Pauline Bongard’s background, in contrast, is hazy. Fact is, shortly after their first meeting, she showed Hugo Do ..read more

Turquoise Yachting Club Sailing Across the Galaxies
Swiss Music Export
by SME Zurich

17 February 2023 saw the release of the latest album from Turquoise Yachting Club, their third. Entitled “Galaxies Sunliners”, was produced by L’Eclair’s Benoit Errard and is available via Irascible Records. Part of the bubbling Lausanne scene, the six-piece claims to be steeped in Sixties nostalgia. However, this writer, at least, can’t think of any Sixties artist sounding remotely as untroubled by adverse circumstances like unpleasant weather, delayed trains or a rotten apple in the fruit bowl, as this bunch of Wes Montgomery, Californian summer and papaya dessert fans. Their hyper-laidbac ..read more

Enola Reverof Buries His Head in the Clouds
Swiss Music Export
by SME Zurich

Dreampop with a hint of shoegaze is the habitat of a mysterious new artist named Enola Reverof. His debut EP “Bury Me in the Clouds” was released via songsforclaire in February. It contains five melodiously dreamy tracks entitled “Bury”, “Me”, “In”, “The”, and “Clouds”. The playful aura of both the track titles and the artist’s name (surely, we won’t have to suggest to you to try and read it backwards!) will give you an indication that this is a project that is both deeply serious in execution and not quite so serious in intent. We know very little about the creator of these beautifully cons ..read more

At last: Veronica Fusaro’s long-awaited debut album is out. Entitled “All the Colors of the Sky”, it was released on 20 January 2023 via deepdive Records, going straight in at number 5 in the Swiss album charts. Ever since she won the Demo Tape of the Year award at the m4music festival as a teenager in 2016, Veronica has been recognised as a special talent. There followed a steady stream of impressive singles and EPs as well as an ever increasing number of prestigious live and television performances (not to mention various Swiss Music Export showcases!) – but no album. Silance celebrating the “nouveau genre”
Swiss Music Export
by Joana Elena Obieta

Out now via Two Gentlemen is “Nouveau Genre”, the debut album from Lausanne-based singer Silance. With a handful of EPs under her belt, last autumn’s single and video featuring the album’s title track pretty much set the agenda for what has now followed. “Nouveau Genre” is a statement of solidarity from an androgynous lesbian to anyone in the LGBTQIA+ community who feels isolated or even prosecuted in their environment. Another bold statement is the album sleeve which contains only the title but not the name of the artist. Starting off with the strikingly intense “Rockstar”, “Noveau Genre” bl ..read more
