Now that normal service has resumed, reviews will appear here every two weeks. As I aim to showcase the best of what Dublin has to offer, by trying out various cuisines and dishes. Now and again you can expect an interesting surprise as I venture out of Dublin.   This week’s restaurant is? A very good friend of mine Anthony likes my Fussy Eater reviews and wanted to join me on some of restaurant reviews. So, once a month on a Saturday we will go out for lunch followed by a couple of drinks after. Every time we do this, the restaurant visited will be reviewed. For my first review with ..read more

Sorry, it’s been so long since I posted a review, and thankfully service has now resumed. Over the next few months, there will be some interesting restaurants reviewed. I have also joined Substack where you can read my latest weekly musings on food and drink. You can find my first Substack post here and I hope you will subscribe to it. This week’s restaurant is? There are certain restaurants that I have eaten in, and never had the chance to review until now. This week’s restaurants is one of those restaurants and it has three sister restaurants in Dublin. In fact, I have eaten in one of its si ..read more

A New Year’s Message
The Fussy Eater

As New Year has just come upon us, it is sad to see restaurants that we love closing down. One restaurant in particular that I loved was Fasta which was less than ten minutes’ walk from my apartment. Fasta did excellent authentic Italian cuisine for under a tenner. When it closed down, my first thought was, it will be greatly missed. It was located under Connolly Station, which made it ideal for train passengers who did not want to go home and cook. Sadly I think this will be another common occurrence next year, and it will be sad to read of beloved restaurants closing. Thankfully New Year’s b ..read more

I have been away for a while, and I am now back. Every one or two weeks you will see a new review from restaurants all over Dublin and beyond. This blog has always reviewed different cuisines and will continue to do so.  This week’s restaurant is? A couple of weeks ago I was in Galway for the weekend and I had to visit one of my favourite restaurants. As you just saw in the video intro above I was in Irelands best Pizzeria, Dough Bros. Whenever I go to Galway, I always make time to visit Dough Bros a restaurant that I and countless others rate highly. Last year they were voted the 3 ..read more

What I have been up to lately – two mini reviews
The Fussy Eater
by Ronan_Leonard
8M ago
Over the past few months you will have noticed that I have not posted much. One of the reasons is because I have not visited many new restaurants. Visiting restaurants I have already reviewed on here means I can’t review them again. However this does not mean that I did not visit anywhere new. So this means I have two mini reviews for your delectation. Both mini reviews are different but they have one thing in common, they showcase great food and meals in Ireland. You will also see what I have been up to and why my first mini review is just that. Earlier this year there was great anticipation ..read more

This is my last restaurant review from my recent London trip. I had a ball thanks to the Eviivo collective and The Rokxy Townhouse. As I get used to the new world Covid has created, you will definitely see me venturing further afield. Visiting more restaurants outside Dublin and probably Ireland too.  This week’s restaurant is? Before I left for London, I had my itinerary planned out. This was done with absolute precision with the aim of eating in at least three restaurants and possibly four. In the end I visited three restaurants and they were all so different. For my last restaurant in ..read more

My first Michelin Star Restaurant Review
The Fussy Eater

As you will know this is my second restaurant review in London. Thanks again to the guys at the travel tech company Eviivo for making this happen. As I mentioned before I was staying in The Rokxy Townhouse in Kingscross. It was the perfect place to stay in the perfect location. As I had mentioned before I was going to do one restaurant per day. I had also hoped to take in somewhere for breakfast that I could review to. In the end I settled for a quick cheeky Greggs sausage roll, having heard that they were legendary and tasted great. I was dying to see if this was true. It ..read more

As I mentioned on my last blog post, I was going to be in London thanks to the travel tech company Eviivo. Whilst I was there I managed to fit in three restaurants, that I will be reviewing. It was great to be out reviewing restaurants in another country and another city. My base of operations was Kings Cross which has had a major makeover, and is the new Covent Garden. The hotel I was staying in The Rokxy Townhouse was perfect. It was more than just a room, it was an experience. I was booked into The Hygge Suite, which came with 2 rooms, a bedroom and another room called The Snug. The bedroom ..read more

Basil another of Dublin’s hidden gems

It’s been awhile since I have posted a review on here as I have been shaking off a stomach bug. It’s not fair to do a review when you can’t fully enjoy the experience of eating out. How can you enjoy a nice meal when your stomach can’t appreciate it?  The cost of living crisis has also not helped, with restaurants and gastropubs closing or increasing their prices. Coming just after restaurants and gastropubs are getting over the pandemic and trying to recruit and retain staff so that they can remain open. This means that I will probably be doing only 2-3 reviews per month.   Thi ..read more
