I have a 100gal tank that has been running for years. It has CO2 injection, and liquid ferts. Lights on 9hr only. A few Nerite snails and a SAE (more for looks). I never had any algae to be concerned of. About a year ago I planted Pogo Helferi to be used as a foreground plant (had open area before). I keep getting beard algae between the Helferi plants. So a bunch of ramshorn snails went feral in my porcelain fish bowl and started to eat all of the new growth on my foxtail, sword plant and the tropical lily. This is an unfortunate recent development in the past few weeks. They have no interest in the North American frogbit or the crypts ?‍♀️ Someone mentioned trapping snails with a piece of boiled cabbage, and it worked! They did great for quite some time, "dancing" and all but their condition started to worsen last summer (it probably got too hot in my apartment) and it's not gotten any better since.
