So I often see this with cheap-ish quality tanks like Aqueon. Though I have also encountered it with Marineland as well, but not as commonly.
Sometimes, I notice the very edge of the glass where the corners meet isn't entirely flat? It usually occurs it seems like in just one corner of the tank, but I have noticed where this occurs in more than one corner.
However, I always assume this may be due to jenky build quality and usually pass on such a tank. However, is it really a cause for...

Hello everybody!!
I'm new to this forum, and this budget planted nano is the result of me (a student) getting back into the hobby again, right after starting med school (a little dorm room project, you might say). Feel free to comment, share your thoughts etc., here are some specs:
Size: around 22cm cube, 2.5 gallon (10 litres) volume
Lighting: 6.3W no-name stock LED (red, blue, white diodes)
Filtration: Built-in, 200lph pump (blocked with a piece of sponge, but still...

I have had my 10 gallon set up for about 3 years and never really had any issues with algae until recently. About a year ago I was introduced to live plants in my tank and I jumped right in, I have a gravel substrate so I am just keeping Anubias and sword plants. I am dosing liquid fertilizers weekly and this past few months the algae has exploded. I have a bunch of string algae and Blackbeard algae on my rocks and plants along with regular algae as well.
What do I need to do to get rid of...

I set up a 10 gallon over 3 weeks ago that has lots of plants and 2 cherry shrimp (added after cycling). We’re planning to make sure our tank is seasoned before adding more creatures.
One of our cherry shrimp developed the japonica parasite after being with us for a week and a half (treated, and gone)! Which made me realize I need to set up a hospital tank for our newcomers in 3 ish weeks hopefully.
Right now we have a Marina Slim HOB filter and a separate air pump/air stone.
My question...

Hi all, I recently scratched my fish tank when setting it up. I know scratches are usually not fixable, has anyone had any luck with any sort of glass filler or any recommendations to make it less noticeable? I'm leaning towards putting an object in front of it to draw less attention to it, let less light reach it. Thanks for any advice ..read more

Hello, I am looking to set up a 49.1 gallon, 185ltr tank.
length x width x height
Inches — 69.69x12x13.78
cm — 177x30x35 approx
I would like to make this into a nano fish river tank. I have a aow-16 from where this was a marine tank before to create some current for it. The tank will be with a canister filter, possibly some sponge filters for oxygen levels.
I have two ideas.
A) a fully UK native river tank. Scottish cobbles, hopefully substrate found in the UK, wood from the UK (if...

Hi Everyone,

My tank is 6ftx2ftx3ft high
I have 6 Hydra 32 freshwaters, in a decently planted tank.
What settings would yall recommend?
I have recently had algae take over all my plants .
I currently run 6.5 hours total light with 4 hours peak at 88% and have reduced it to 75% peak starting today.
Is 75% still too much light?
Im a reefing guy so freshwater is hard lol!
Incase it matters for the nit nerds

Hi my 8 year old goldfish has fin rot I’m pretty sure, I got a new filter and almost 2 weeks went by and he stopped eating and the nitrate levels were very high and now his tail is shredding very quickly. I got some Melafix and I’m on my first day treating with it but is that going to heal him? I also did a water change, I feel like I need to be doing more. It’s a 10 Gallon tank (I know it’s small ..read more
