Advice on stalls

I can’t tell if I’m doing good or bad, I’ve lost 30 pounds and my surgery was on 4/8/24. I haven’t been weighing myself because I was stalling. I feel like I can tolerate a lot more than what they tell me, things like rice and the yolk of eggs. So I have been eating those things and feel great. It feels like I’m cheating though, and I’m scared I’m overeating, but I’m really not eating that much. Like for example, for lunch today I had a chipotle bowl with just chicken, cheese, and the littlest scoop of rice, I split it in half and had the other half for dinner. Is that bad? Any advice? submi ..read more

I’m 9 weeks post op, going to NYC tomorrow for the weekend, and I don’t want to shove a ton of protein shakes into my checked bag and make it heavier. Is it easy to find protein shakes in bodegas or CVS? Or Quest chips or protein bars? Crossing fingers… TIA!! submitted by /u/sinister_foxx [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I had my surgery 2 years ago, im 5’4 I was 233 and now I’m 110, my weight fluctuates 1-2 pounds I feel I am too skinny, (I can feel my bones) but people says I look normal, my doc said I’m ok while not under 100, my nutriologist said to have this special caloric proteic shake because I am anemic and have other deficiencies, but I today I weight myself and I gained 3 pounds, I started to feel bad and guilty, I’m thinking not to eat tomorrow, I’m panicking with the sole idea to be fat again, I’m always hungry and theres a lot of food on my diet, I feel ashamed and guilty, I want to cry. I am now eight weeks out and have been so blessed... No pain, no gas, no itching from incisions, no dumping, weight is slowly coming off (30 lbs since surgery, 55 lbs from highest) and no new foods have bothered me...except one thing. I can eat almost anything except meat. It doesn't matter if it's tuna, ground beef, chicken or turkey (I haven't tried pork yet), it hurts and it inevitably comes back up. I take small bites, small portions and chew thoroughly but it just does NOT sit well with me. One or two bites and I can usually tell I'm in trouble. Deli sliced ham I can sometimes do if I'm ..read more

Bumping the Norm

So. This title. Let me explain. Many undergo surgery, see great results and get set to maintain. As you’re going thru the entire process , notice they don’t talk about fitness weights etc. When you challenge them asking why , they don’t really have an answer. For the most part they try to level set us to not expect too much. Cause they don’t wanna be responsible if it doesn’t go great. So let’s bump the norm. Let’s push past meager expectations. I started at 310 and am now 228. This is still obese. Regardless how good my bloodwork is or how much healthier I am, it’s obese. At my height I need ..read more

I am so hungry ?? Shakes and broth are just not cutting it for me. I'm supposed to start the pureed stage on Tuesday but I want to NOW. I won't, but wish I could. Anyone else deal with extreme hunger right after surgery? I didn't expect this. My surgeon said I wouldn't feel hunger at all. I started this journey weighing around 97kg (around 214 lbs) with a bmi of 44. I'm very short, 148cm (4'10") to be exact. I live in Sweden and I was lucky to get a referral to a weight loss clinic which is part of one of the big hospitals in the country. I have tried other ways to lose weight without getting long lasting results, so I am extremely grateful that I was accepted to get an operation. I was at 97 kg during my first meeting with the hospital and 91kg on the day of the operation after 3 weeks of liquid dieting. I had my 6 month check up the other day and my BMI is down to 32 an ..read more
