Good for this kid!!

Pretty cool/crazy too see what it took to find 1 person that could put 5 shots into a zeroed 1 MOA circle. After 5 days, a 14 year old kid did it with his dad's gun. Cool to see the kid just stack a group in there to win the money for sure. I hardly keep a gun in one configuration long enough to do this, until right before hunting season hahaha. But this would be a legit very cool challenge on rokslide. I have a triggercam 2.1 that attaches to the scope now and a new 6 PRC about finished up... Read more ..read more

Chronograph in Central Oregon?

Anybody in the central Oregon area (Bend, Redmond, Prineville) have a chronograph they’d be willing to let me borrow or rent from them for a day? I know I can get one through rent outdoor gear, but I wanted to check here. The budget doesn’t permit the addition of a chronograph at this point, but I want to gather some information on my factory ammo ..read more

Vortex Viper Gen II scope reliability?

I was in the market a couple of years ago for scopes, and I ended up getting NF SHV and a Bushnell LRHS over any Vortex scopes over reviews and concerns with turret durability and consistency. I am in the market again and I was wondering if the “Gen II” scopes are any better and are worth the price point. The other alternatives are another SHV, LRHS, or maybe SWFA. I get the vortex military discount which helps, but I would rather spend an extra $300 than save the money and regret it in the... Read more ..read more

Will a nx8 2.5x20x50 work on a tikka with a pic rail? Ppl consider a tikka medium length action, and i know on a long action they dont have much adjustment. I know it would probably work with um tikka rings but i only have a rail at the moment. If you have pics of these combo pls post. I dont wanna go to tall rings Sent from my SM-G986W using Tapatalk ..read more

First LR hunting rifle

I am looking at starting this from an already built factory rifle (that I dont own yet) but I want something that I can hike 12 miles with, so light weight but I can take to than range and have fun with as well. Leaning towards a 300WM. I am not stuck to any one brand and Im looking at starting the process relatively slowly. I know any rifle I get will out perform me but if I could ring steel at 1200+ meters that would be awesome. For hunting purposes Im not too sure as everything I have... Read more ..read more

I just picked up a new Kimber Mountain Ascent in 308. Before I settle on the Nosler 165 accubond, I was wondering if there is a factory load with a better BC to help with those +400 yard shots. Thoughts ..read more

Why do people "tape" their scopes?
Rockslide Area » Long Range Hunting

I have seen a number of pictures with scopes that are all taped up. I was wondering what the purpose of that was? Is it to prevent noise from a metal scope "dinging" on something? Or more to protect the scope from "getting dinged"? Also seems like they are using the flexible athletic tape to do it, and wonder if they have problems of it losing adhesion and coming unwrapped. Just curious ..read more
