What is your "go to" piece of equipment on the farm/ranch? Mine is the backhoe. We would put forks on the front for handling big bales, use the backhoe part for everything that might require a shovel. It was always dependable, started easily, and good to run. Yours ..read more

Slick way of moving round bales?
The Horse Forum - Farm Equipment

Looking around on the internet youtube the cheapest thing out there for moving rond bales is a roll behind device at Tractor Supply Company for $999.00. I have a sub-compact diesel Massey Ferguson, the specs say the 3 point hitch can lift 1190 lbs. I read that the biggest round bales weigh about 1500lbs, so that ain't gonna work! You tube shows a "round bale dolly" that looks cool, but can't find where to buy! I was thinking of maybe trying to get a hood from a car at a junk yard, and... Arena Drag Size Recommendations
The Horse Forum - Farm Equipment

Hi all. My wife and I are looking to purchase an equine property and we’re pricing out equipment. She knows everything about horses, and I know next to nothing, but nonetheless I’ve naturally been appointed head groundskeeper. The farm we’re looking at has two arenas, a 180 x 80 indoor and an outdoor of similar size. What width (and what brand if you have a preference) arena drag would you recommend for daily use? I want to cut down on time as much as possible, but the heavier / wider I... Arena Drag Size Recommendations ..read more

Help.... I'm stumped.... Some background information... Kubota L series 33 hp. HST transmission...2 years old. I recently purchased a used steel 3 point rake so I can drag and disburse the manure in my pasture and fields better. In the past my large garden tractor I use for mowing my yard we used pulling a small rake that bounced along behind and did a decent job... That garden tractor though now needs babying so I bought the rake for the farm tractor. So...is there a way to "float" the... 3-point rake ..read more

I need a bush hog, but am not sure what to purchase. I have about 5 acres of rough brush, honeysuckle, wild grapevine, 4 foot tall Kentucky blue grass, garlic mustard, stinging nettles, and pokeweed (just to name a few). I have rather steep slopes and will be attaching it to a 4 wheeler to navigate the hills. Any advice on what I should purchase and how much this should cost ..read more

Looking to buy a tractor; on a budget

Total newbie here. Come next March 1 I will have 13 acres of neglected pasture (on the 20-acre parcel we are buying) to rehab - I'll be cutting down the locust trees and brushhogging and mowing. Obviously I am going to need a tractor. I am used to shopping on the internet - in the past for cars - so I have the process down. But I could use your thoughts on my thoughts. I have been on TractorHouse looking at tractors in 2 categories: before ROPS and after ROPS. My wife insists on ROPS... Looking to buy a tractor; on a budget ..read more
