Stripping down a Montague

Hi, a call for help from anyone who has got the forks off and separated the two parts of the frame of any Montague pavement bike (their phrase, not mine). I've got a Montague Urban, which I love, and want to get it repainted. To do this I'd like to remove the front forks and separate the two parts of the frame. However I'm struggling with both of these things. Should the forks just drop out once the handlebar stem is removed or are they held in place by the headraces (which I can't get off)? And should the two parts of the frame separate easily (it seems the upright tube which forms the hinge ..read more

Moulton looks like they just released a new model the Flyte. Does anyone have any info on it? It doesn't look like it comes apart. Their website doesn't list it but it's in the shop at Portapedal. Seems like an updated version of an older model ..read more

I am seeking advice to find a lightweight Crankset Upgrade of a Dahon. After disassembling and weighing the Truvativ Elita it turned out to be approx 1kg (excluding chainring bolts). Right arm: 305g left arm: 215g extracting screws x 2: 40g Chainring and guard: 135g Isis Drive BB: 306g 1. What are the current options for crankset x1+BB that yield the lowest possible weight? I would really appreciate it if you can give an estimated weight for the suggestions. THM and lightning are out of budget ..read more

Confirmation of Dahon Speed vs Tern Link wheelbase

Hello, I’m looking for this info and only found an article about the Tern Link stating its 99 cm. Is this correct? I measure my Dahon Speed at 104 cm which makes the Tern 2 inches shorter. I find my Dahon too long and thinking about the Tern as a possible replacement. The Tern lighter weight is also a plus. Thanks ..read more

Disk brakes too strong? Tern Verge P10

Last year I bought Tern Verge p10. Unfortunately, soon I had the accident in which I broke my right hand. The reason was, in unexpected situation I hit the brakes, the bike stopped immediately and I did not. Classic. Just before the accident, my speed was about 17 kph, which I know because of Strava. I do not think it is very high. This is my first bike with disc brakes, with only one other experience, so I am inexperienced as to how they should behave. Should not they be more loose? On my previous bikes an accident like this would be much more difficult because the brakes were not so tigh ..read more

Brompton T Line w/ factory titanium mainframe

Jipe broke this news buried on another thread. You Tube Light. Pricey. Is that a Hummingbird CF fork? Speaking of which, the single speed Brompton T is both heavier and more expensive than a British-built single speed Hummingbird. The 4-speed T is perhaps 250g lighter but has quite a bit narrower gear range than the 4-speed Hummingbird - and again the T is more expensive. Obviously the Brompton folds smaller than the Hummingbird (but larger than a Dahon Curl ..read more
