Season 6 Episode 11 went out live on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 16 March 2023. Badlands with Jake E. Lee and the late Ray Gillan got us out the blocks with a track called ‘Devil’s Stomp’. From there we had some more devils courtesy of Chickenfoot and a track called ‘Different Devil’ off Chickenfoot III. It was pretty much full-bore rock and roll for the first hour with bands like Godsmack, Stone Sour, and Marilyn Manson. In particular, Stone Sour with ‘Do Me a Favour’ and Godsmack off their brand new album Lighting Up The Sky and a track called “Red White and Blue mad ..read more

S6E10 kicked off live on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 9 Mar 2023. It was great to be back in Benoni after last week's sojourn to Clarens and we celebrated hard. First up was Motörhead and a track off Inferno called ‘In the Year of the Wolf’. From there some classic Led Zep and a track by Michael Monroe co-written by Lemmy called 'The Fine Art of Debauchery'. We had some Def Leppard and some Black Sabbath to keep the big names in the mix and then turned left into the world of Stoner Rock and Queens of the Stone Age. From there we hit some USA Punk with Ramones and ..read more

It is that time of year again, Dan Patlansky's guitar weekend down in Clarens. This episode went out on Rebel rock Radio on 2 March 2023 at 19h00. It was a bit messy, but messy is good, let me know if you disagree. We kicked off with Fokofpolisiekar and their classic rock anthem, ‘Hemel Op Die Platteland, and followed up in quick succession with Airbourne, Grand Funk Railroad, and Mötley Crüe. We heard from the ladies pretty early in the show, two stellar guitarists Sophie Lloyd and Laura Cox showing the way. From there we checked out some Queen of Queen II and th ..read more

Episode 8 of Season 6 went out live at 7 pm on Rebel Rock Radio on 23 Feb 2023. 23 2 23 what a day, what a week what a 26-month journey. I am out of the game. Long live Rock and Roll. We kicked off this very unplanned show with Guns ‘n’ Roses and ‘Anything Goes’. From there something brand new from Black Star Riders and something old from Badlands, an awesome track called ‘High Wire’. Mike Orlando from Adrenaline Mob gave us all guitar lessons on a track called 'Dearly Departed'. Grunge duty was fulfilled by Nirvana, Puddle of Mud, and Temple of the Do ..read more

Episode 7 of season 6 aired on Rebel Rock Radio at 7 pm on 16 Feb 2023. We eased in with The Boss, Bruce Springsteen, and a track called 'Last To Die'. From there we heard Damageplan, the band that arguably cost Dimebag Darrell his life. Red Dragon Cartel gave us a track called 'Big Mouth' featuring Maria Brink on vocals. From there we were cruising, ACDC, Bush, and stuff like that.
TSORR is working with Devographic and getting all the brand-new SA releases as they come out, or in our case about 12 hours before. I don’t like to lose music time on interviews but I ..read more

We kicked episode 6 with a track called ‘Burning For You’ a cover of a great track by Blue Öyster Cult, very well done here by Iced Earth. The show then got heavy with Killswitch Engage and Annihilator, with ‘Desperate Times’ and 'Set the World On Fire’ respectively. Both of these fall into the TSORR Songs that could be about South Africa category. Accept and Sinner gave us a taste of German metal and then we had Thundermother out of Sweden. There was a great little SA music segue early in the show where we checked out Jack Hammer Band with a pre-released track c ..read more

S6E5 aired at 19h00 on 2 Feb 2023 live on Rebel Rock Radio. The opening track was by Warrior Soul, I have some good memories of this band. Marq Vas and I discovered them in the early ‘90s and their Last Decade, Dead Century album, where this track came from was always in heavy rotation. Next up, Thunder Mother with ‘Borrowed Time’ conjured up the image of thousands of lighters held aloft, and ‘Turn of the Screw' from Heaven & Hell again reminded us of the magnificence of Ronnie James Dio’s Voice.
During the show, Tim sent me the list of 2023 Rock and Roll Hal ..read more

Episode 4 of the brand new Season 6 kicked off at precisely 19h00 on 26 Jan 2023 on Rebel Rock Radio. First up was a band who are no strangers to TSORR, Great White with ‘Never Trust a Pretty Face’. We had a nice up-tempo start cycling through Motor Sister, and Accept and then took a huge step back into the past with the ever-fresh sound of Creedence Clearwater Revival and ‘Green River’, from there we went to Aussie for some Cold Chisel and a track called ‘Misfits’. We stayed there for Airborne and moved on to Tesla via Halestorm and a track called Legendary which of course s ..read more

Episode 3 of Season 6 launched promptly at 19h00 on Rebel Rock Radio and then crashed back to earth like a failed rocket launch. It was restarted and got back on the air at 19h17. The joys of internet radio. This was the first episode going out on fibre. While podcast people have not been affected, listeners to the live show have had a really rough ride of late thanks to load shedding in South Africa. Since late 2022 it has either been my cell towers collapsing (Telcom) or if mine are up then the guys trying to listen have no power. It is, as they say, a shi ..read more

Season 6 episode 2 went out live on 12 January 2023 on Rebel Rock Radio, once again the live show was ruined by the load shedding issues we are suffering with in South Africa. Power out for around 6 hours every 24 hours so the cell phone towers just cannot cope. The show kicked off with Aaron Keylock and cool slow bluesy track called ‘Just One Question’. The slowish start was kicked into touch by Pat Travers and his party anthem ‘Snortin Whiskey’. The Cult with ‘King Contrary Man’ was a breath of fresh air, Electric has stood the test of time, Rick Rubin did an amazing ..read more
