More than 700 adventurers set out down the Missouri River at Kaw Point in the world’s longest non-stop river race. It’s known at the MR340 river race and is 340 miles of paddling through Missouri’s muddy waters. Using all sorts of water craft, from canoes and Kayaks to paddle boards and row boats, the paddlers start in Kansas City and finish at St. Charles at the other end of the state in a race that officially runs four days. Would you believe there are only a handful of photos known to exist from Super Bowl I and IV? The Chiefs first two Super Bowls. Super Bowl I was in 1967 against the Green Bay Packers at the Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, CA, and Super Bowl IV was in 1970 against the Minnesota Vikings at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans, LA. Cameras were still large and clunky and much less mobile – taking pictures proved cumbersome during this era. From a Parisian bakery to a cigar shop, the new Village Plaza in Overland Park is beginning to fill its retail space. The new 10,000-square-foot building at 159th Street and Metcalf Avenue in south Overland Park, will have three tenants, according to the leasing agents. Paris Baguette Bakery Cafe will open in late 2024 or early 2025. During the pandemic, Drue and Kat Stewart decided there was a void in food truck options – brunch. So they rolled out Holy Brunch KC, setting the truck up in spots from Lee’s Summit to Olathe. “It just blew up from there,” Drue Stewart says. “Everything is really different and funky. As of this weekend, a Cousins Maine Lobster food truck is a permanent fixture in KC.  You may have heard of the LA-based franchise before. Owners (and cousins) Sabin Lomac and Jim Tselikis pitched it on ABC’s investor reality show Shark Tank in 2012. The pair’s dream to share their local Maine family traditions was a success and they walked out with a $55,000 investment from real estate mogul Barbara Corcoran.
