Hey Guys, i am in the process of interviewing for 2025 GI job. I was wondering if anybody had the latest MGMA data about median/75th percentile wRVU and and the median/75th percentile compensation. I am located in the Midwest. I am being offered 57wrvu for 8200 of work in small community hospital in a rural area and i know that this rate is being offered by university/academic places . I just don't want to be taken for a ride here. When i told them that this was a low rate , they said that... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network ..read more

Anyone else curious to know if GI alliance will go down?

Saw a job opening below. GI alliance ruined so many private practice opportunities for the newer GI fellows and young attendings. After the golden parachute for the retiring physicians, good to see they are unable to replace all the openings. I know GI alliance is too big to fail but I would love to see them receding and more private practice options in Texas and other metros... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network ..read more

Chronic cough question from Pulmonologist to GI doctors

Hello GI doctors I have an honest question about community GI setups regarding getting esophageal manometry and 24 hour pH probe Bravo studies. As a pulmonologist I see a lot of chronic cough. After I have gone through the checklist of asthma/COPD/bronchiectasis/structural lung disease and done all of my PFTs, FENOs, bronchoprovocation testing, and CT chests, I am often still confronted with GERD I barium esophagrams and at times I get lucky with GERD but this is not always the case... Matched at a place with low scope volume, how can I prep for private practice?

I matched at a place where fellows graduate with 600 total endoscopies including both EGD and colonoscopy. My goal is to go into private practice but unfortunately can't control the match algorithm. How can I make the best of the time I do have during fellowship to get additional volume/get good at endoscopy? Is there any other way for me to practice colonoscopies or get additional volume? Am I doomed to academics forever by ending up at a low volume place or will I be able to still escape... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network ..read more

Hi, I’m a recent grad of ‘23 back in May and am currently taking two gap years to save up money + strengthen my application due to my low GPA. I currently work 45 hours a week as a medical assistant at a dermatology clinic and will be working for about a year since it’s two of the practices I’m interested in, the other being gastroenterology. I’m trying to take the MCAT in April to see what my baseline and then adjust my next steps (post bac and possible MPH) would be but I’m so... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network ..read more

Hello, Need advice on job situation. I did an advanced endo fellowship and joined hospital employed position to build basic advanced endoscopy practice. Referral base is from 6 general GIs and some surgery groups around. Last year did close to 250 EUSs and 150 ERCPs. Few stenting, 10 Axios, lots of EMRs and almost no Barrett's. Other partners do ERCPs and place plastic stents but do not know how to do Spy, remove larger stones or deal with complex stricture. They do most of their...
