My 1.4 tsi has a problem in cylindet number 1. I saw a little black spot, but i can see the marks of factory honing. Do you hone again or is it ok? https://preview.redd.it/r1ncxshwmaxc1.jpg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=04975563e4acbda92433ec7d7475204a7d1f4d2c submitted by /u/adryanxu [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

So I have an L9H LS based engine out of an 09 Yukon. Machine shop line honed the block .010 and crank was already .020. I’m having a hard finding the 10/20 bearings I need. Any suggestions? submitted by /u/AsapMcQueen1017 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

My M52B25 started burning a ton of oil, I was pretty sure it were the valve valve seals but I found some interesting things. Does anyone have an Idea what happend here? Can I put it together like this to verify if the oil problem is gone and I don't need another engine before in investing in new trays and cams? submitted by /u/SERP92 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Help needed- bad vibration in rotating assembly ?

Bad vibration felt while car is idling. So bad steering wheel shakes. You can see harmonic ballancer wobbling. No accessory belts attached. Integra type r b18 engine. Full rebuild with forged internals 1400km ago. Re-used the stock crank and cams as they were in perfect shape. S-80 Manual trans that had full rebuild at the same time. NO VIBRATIONS felt for the first 1200km, then it slowly started to happen and get worse. Harmonic ballancer rubber had cracks in it so I replaced it with a Fluidamper sci certified dampener and the problem remains. I pulled the main bearings to find abnormal ..read more

I don’t get much time for my stuff. But finally got around to working on the top end of my FE build for my 62 galaxie. Started with a free 352 block, had it bored .08. Already had a 4.25” stroker crank, had that balanced and put in. Had some 62 date code 406 heads for it that have a Holman Moody part number on them, but my cylinder head guy found a crack in a water passage when he checked them. So, have a pr of ProMaxx heads instead. Got the heads bolted down today, and mocked up the intake. Will be doing some port work to the carb plenums, and maybe intake ports. Hopefully next time down ..read more

Rebuilding my 1979 corvette L48 engine and need some opinions on piston condition. Engine had rocker arm stud damage, flattened cam shaft and cyl 3 was missing its valve seat. So it’s getting new Edelbrock performer heads, block is at machine shop getting cleaned and new bearings for the cam, comp cams 260H cam. Roller tip rockers and some other stuff. What’s everyone’s opinion on the condition of the OEM pistons? Picture 2 and 4 show pistons that had some dings in them, which I filed away with a micro file(any damage was on the top of the piston, can’t find any damage around the sides ..read more

I have my core and am about to get started. Big picture goal: Be competitive in an 11 second index bracket drag race. Smaller picture: Build a big block between 500 and 600 hp with good torque NA. I'd like to shift around 5500 RPM. If we are not index racing or I can do it without breaking out I will spray no more than a 150 shot of nitrous as well. Proposed build sheet: Block - 454 from 80s rv, bored 30 over. 2 bolt main. Heads - 781 or 049s ported with love by me. Crank - stock out of core, turned 10 thousandth by machine shop. Rods - stock out of core, balanced. Pistons - 26cc Keith Black ..read more

I am building out a mini r56 engine which has been bored oversize by 1mm (from 77 to 78mm.) an OEM head gasket has a hole diameter of 78.25. is that enough clearance to use or should I get a custom gasket with oversize cutouts? submitted by /u/DHLPDX [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
