Final look Used them as a new dining room table centerpiece When I made the pedestal bowls, I couldn’t find the wider tops that made these bowls, but after much continued looking at Dollar Tree, I have found them!!! I glued them together and then used the Rustoleum Stone accent spray paint and they are perfect! I decided to make a centerpiece with them for my dining room table. Planted some succulent planters to put in them and then some rock, and boom, new centerpiece! Tthese 2 bowls cost me about $8.00 total with spray paint. (Note, get the spray paint at Walmart – so much cheaper!) Pottery ..read more

Kitchen cabinet makeover under $500

During quarantine I decided to paint my entire kitchen. Most importantly, my kitchen cabinets. Ever since we moved into our house, I wanted the outdated oak cabinets gone. I also knew this was a huge undertaking but since I had nothing else to do in lockdown, I decided that this was the perfect time. I thought I wanted grey cabinets (because I clearly have a grey obsession) but once I got a couple samples, I was quick to realize that grey was just too drab and dark for my kitchen. I needed white. So I searched for a perfect white. I knew I only wanted Sherwin Williams (from the actual store ..read more

The Workshop at Finley Farms

Ever since I heard of the Morris family (of Johnny Morris – Bass Pro Guru) buying and restoring the area around Finley river and the bridge in Ozark, I was so excited. I have always loved that area ever since I lived in Christian county for 10 years. The entire renovation is still going on (as is the case for most Morris properties – they are amazing in the end, but take years!) but they did get a coffee shop up and running. Well, I thought it was just a coffee shop but they have more! The building used to be a cool nursery, one that I had visited many times when I lived in Christian county ..read more

Even though I love the 417, sometimes you just need to get away with your husband. So, recently we had a good opportunity to escape for a night and of course, we chose one of our favorite places to visit – Eureka Springs, Arkansas. View out of our window in our room at the Basin We have visited Eureka probably one time each year for the entire 7 years we have been married. Eureka is the perfect place to visit for a night and two days is the perfect amount to visit. We started this trip off at 9 am on a Thursday and set off for Eureka, actually Bentonville first. When visiting Eureka, if we are ..read more

I still think about her everyday….My sweet Coco

We had to put down our sweet little Coco in September of 2020. Ugh, as I’m writing this, I am bawling. And it’s been almost 6 months. I had always heard how hard it is to lose a dog…..but man, I underestimated the use of the word hard when your dog is gone. I am not even a huge dog person. I mean, I love dogs and don’t understand cats so I guess I can understand when people say they aren’t dog people. I also think it depends on the dog. My first dog wasn’t the nicest, he was very needy and just needed a different environment than we could give him, and then he tried to bite my firstborn, that ..read more

2020 was something! We had canceled a trip to Jamaica for our anniversary, a family vacation to Florida but we randomly decided to go to the mountains for 3 days. I had never been to Colorado other than flying through. My boys had never been and my husband had only been to go actual hiking for a couple weekends many years ago. Most years, I would rather go to the beach so I thought in the year 2020 with all it’s challenges, why not go to the mountains and enjoy some fresh air! Autumn is a beautiful time to visit Colorado! It was all driven by cheap flights. The pandemic had left us with many ..read more

Loaded Hashbrown Bowls

I was craving these hashbrown plates that I used to get in my hometown where I grew up get at the truck stop that was formerly known as “El Rancho”. They were crispy delicious hasbrowns with different toppings and so good. Another restaurant where I currently get delicious potatoes with eggs inspired the other half of these bowls. It has this delicious goat cheese dolloped on top and it just makes it so delicious. I know goat cheese with eggs and potatoes sounds disgusting, but try it and you will think differently I promise. Unless you hate goat cheese, then maybe not. So just leave that off ..read more

In the small town that I grew up in, we had very few stores but Dollar General was one of them. I always loved having a small Walmart-esque like store to have for some variety without having to leave my town. The classic yellow and black sign Every small town has a least one Dollar General here in the Midwest. You see them everywhere. In my town now, we have at least 5. Most people dismiss them quickly, I feel, because they think of them like Dollar Tree (everything is a dollar) which has its own place in my heart! Dollar General carries everything from bread, to cleaners, to clothes, party su ..read more

Setting up my “work” area

If I’m diving full in on this blogging journey, I needed a desk setup somewhere in my house that is my own. I bought a desk on Walmart and that inspired everything. This desk is everything I wanted. Good size but still small. I liked the shelf above it for extra things. I will say that the main desk area could be 2 inches wider simply for arm room but it still works well. I got it for $50 so for that price, it’s a win! Especially for a beginning blogger.
