Hey, I am beginning on my first project building a dual axis robot, I' not sure on what purpose should it serve,I have thought of things like a drawing hand, object follower or just make it useless with just dual axis arm which can be controlled and just take the journey. I am going to use Arduino uno, stepper motor for base plate and servo motor for respective joint if I planned on making an arm What should I do here, and if anyone has experience with it can you share, what I should focus on and follow and learn. submitted by /u/Saksham-ummm [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Help on project

Hello all, currently in the middle of picking out parts for my project, Goal is to flash a microcontroller with a small mp3 file. This file is about 25kB. To accomplish this I am currently considering the MSP430G2230IDR microcontroller which has 2kb of flash memory. I have also a EPROM512kB which will hold the file. I also need a DAC looking at the MCP4921. Then I need a speaker. Trying to see if this is the right idea for the project and any starters on how to go about designing this? This is an at home project I’m trying to do to gain knowledge with electronic design and programming. Thank ..read more

Translating old German drawings

I am helping my dad to fix his old cnc machine, new hardware and everything. It's nice nice "little" project. I do understand thr software and schematics... However I have never seen this one symbol, it's probably hardware since it is not mentioned in any of the boolean algebra. We think that it is some kind of signal buffer.. We're probably wrong though. Does anyone know what this symbol stands for? Thanks in advanced :) submitted by /u/XienixPS [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I am a high school graduate. I have options of studying in india as well as in the UK. I would like to know that if I study B.Tech in ECE/EEE in india, what exams do I have to write to do masters in the US? How hard is it? Do I have to write both GRE and GMAT? Do I need previous work experience or something else in my application when applying to the colleges in US? Lastly is it better to study in the UK and then try for colleges in US or is india an equal option? submitted by /u/Content_Airport_8617 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Transparent antenna design

Hi everyone, I am a senior year in electrical engineering and i specialize in communication. My final project is focused on designing a transparent rectenna (antenna with an embedded rectifying circuit / voltage multiplier) that will be coated on windows inside urban buildings to harvest RF energy from Wi-Fi / cellular communication sources (4G or 5G is yet to be decided) meaning that this will be a multi-band omni-directional antenna. I will use CST software in order to build the simulation. The problem is, I don’t really know from where to start and how to design an antenna from scratch…Iv ..read more

300 Hz noise

I recently bought a used active speaker. Whenever its plugged in the internal electronics produce an audiable 200 and 300Hz sound, even is the power switch is on 'off'. Noise comes really not via the speaker but the electronics. My take is that something inside has to vibrate but the frequency is a bit weird. Id expect 50 or 100 Hz rather than 300. Anyone could point me to what this could be and whats a possible fix? (I attached the mesured sound spectrum) submitted by /u/StefanFizyk [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
