Planning #105: Your Wedding Day from Dawn to Dusk
Fab! Weddings Blog

Your wedding day will be a very long day, and it will be over in a flash. Still, it is not a sprint, it is a marathon… longer, actually. Get some sleep the night before… get some sleeping aids if those are ok for you, just don’t party, and don’t stay up. Sleep! 7:00 AM In the morning, before you do anything else, please make the decision to have a good time. If you start your day with a cloud over your head, and start worrying about all the things that might not end up perfectly, I promise, you fill find them. Happiness is a decision, not something that happens to you. You can choose to be hap ..read more

Planning #104: What goes into a wedding and why most people CRS!
Fab! Weddings Blog
by George Maverick

Will you actually enjoy and remember your wedding day? I think, for most people it’s a blur. Cobbling together and coordinating an array of vendors, while decorating, coordinating, getting ready, taking pictures, and trying to enjoy the day in the same 12-16 hours is a lot for anyone.  To top that off, some couples add on all kinds of fun, but ultimately time consuming, and unnecessary activities. And that is why most people CRS, as in Can’t Remember Sssstuff. (Now, if you skipped Planning 101, please stop, go back and do your homework. Please! I’m trying to save your wedding day here ..read more

Planning #103: How to choose a venue: don't be surprised, it will be too late!

Pretty much the first thing brides and grooms look for as soon as they are ready to start planning their wedding is the venue.  The reason for this is that everyone else will ask you what date you need them for, and until you have the venue, or the reception venue and the church, you can’t answer their question. From a privacy perspective there are two kinds of venues: private and shared. A private venue is one where your event is the only event taking place, whereas at a shared venue, other activities will be taking place. If you choose a hotel, a golf course, a community center, a party ..read more

Planning #102: What will my wedding cost: way more than you think!

What will your wedding cost? Well, a heckuva lot more than you think. When I think about the cost of a wedding, there are a few categories 1.    The reception 2.    Clothing and accessories 3.    Professional services and bling In the Midwest, a reception will be somewhere in the $80 to $150 per person. In New York or California, probably double that…. But they’re all crazy out there anyway. I am talking about a reception at a venue with catering… something classy, not uncle Tom grilling burgers behind a double wide trailer home. Even at home or on ..read more

I know, I know, you dreamed of that perfect wedding forever. Great. Now welcome to the wedding industry. We’ve been rooting for you to get engaged so we can fleece you!  Wait, no! What I meant is that we will make your dreams come true! Listen, we’ll talk about money soon, but, before you venture into the wilderness of venues and vendors, first decide what is important to you for this day. How to Print Table Cards for Your Reception Seating
Fab! Weddings Blog
by Josey Stafford

Assigning guests to tables isn’t a wedding requirement (unless your dinner is a plated meal with more than one entree option) but it is a good idea. Guests don’t want to get stuck sitting separately from their family, because they lingered too long at the bar. Nor do guests want to accidentally sit at the reserved family table (or not sit at the reserved family table). We make it easy to create a seating assignment chart - we provide the board and the mini clips, the printable template, and we’ll even set it up for you. All you have to do is type in your guest names, proofread and hit print! K ..read more

The Symbolism of Cutting the Wedding Cake
Fab! Weddings Blog
by Josey Stafford

The cutting of the cake is an essential part of most wedding receptions. Even if you are opting for cupcakes or mini desserts, you likely still will want to have a small one or two tiered cake for cutting. It’s a sweet moment, a great photo opportunity and it symbolizes the first task accomplished together as a married couple. After cutting your cake, you’ll likely feed each other bites of the first slice, symbolizing your mutual commitment to share and to provide for each other. Awwwwww. A wedding is a commitment to sharing whatever life brings you, to facing the journey together and doing so ..read more
