A Weekend in Nantucket

Nantucket has been on my bucket list ever since I read Elin Hilderbrand’s book 28 Summers. We had an opportunity to drop our kids with their grandparents in Ohio and squeeze in a weekend getaway for us. I suggested Nantucket and Eric immediately began his research. It’s not the easiest place to get to unless you’re on the East Coast, but the idea of being out in a place where so many of my beach-reads take place felt like quintessential  summer, so we made it happen. I actually read Elin’s latest book The Hotel Nantucket in anticipation of the trip ..read more

Santa Barbara with Kids

We took our kids to our happy place last week and it was magical. Ever since we visited Santa Barbara when I was pregnant with Charlie 5 years ago, it has become the destination Eric and I love traveling to most. From it’s dreamy beaches, perfect weather, and abundance of activities, we were determined to experience a week out there with our children. This was the first trip we have taken with our kids that wasn’t to visit a relative. We had to put a little more research into finding a house rental that felt comfortable with toddlers and babies ..read more

San Miguel de Allende

Trust me when I say that San Miguel de Allende will be the next hottest destination in Mexico in the upcoming few years. After a weekend spent in this beautiful city with friends, I know why more people are getting married and venturing here instead of the coastal towns. It has an allure unlike other spots. San Miguel de Allende is one of the most beautiful and enchanting cities that is rich in color & culture, known for its Spanish & Colonial architecture, vibrant art scene & festivals, and located in Mexico’s central highlands. It was recently ranked the best ..read more

A Girls Weekend in Scottsdale!

Over the weekend I escaped to Scottsdale with two of my close girlfriends for a little mamas getaway. We planned it months ago without hesitation after a previous trip realizing how well we travel together! An easy peasy group. Scottsdale is a special place to me because I attended ASU for two years and growing up, my family would visit my grandparents in Desert Mountain. I love the desert, the endless sunshine, and that feeling of escape when I go there. With beautiful January weather and a short flight from Austin, it seemed like an easy choice for a quick ..read more

Scenes from Martha’s Vineyard

We spent Labor Day in Martha’s Vineyard with Eric’s family and it was every bit as picturesque and beautiful as I had imagined. As a kid, my family and I spent many summers road tripping and had a few adventures where we drove through this north east. Until this trip, I hadn’t done an East Coast summer vacation in a decade plus. Being able to escape the heat and enjoy summer on a beach and with cooler night air was incredible. Traveling with kids is never easy, even when you have some extra hands and help. We had some early ..read more

Our Staycation at The Commodore Perry

For Christmas I gave Eric a night away without the kids at the Commodore Perry. It’s a beautiful mansion-turned-hotel that opened up this year in Austin. Eric is the hardest person to give gifts to but he is always game for some quality time together. I picked out this hotel after a friend recommended it and it was the perfect place for a cozy staycation. Just 15 minutes from our house, the Commodore Perry actually feels like a secret oasis that could be miles and miles away. I was blown away by the intricate detail and beauty of both the ..read more

Our Weekend in Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara is officially one of our favorite places and the second most beautiful place I’ve been to other than Lucerne, Switzerland. Our babymoon is still one of my top posts and it’s because that destination is truly breathtaking while also a place for both relaxation and adventure. The best of both worlds! We returned to Santa Barbara for a quick weekend while Eric’s parents watched our kids. It was so relaxing and I participated in the wine tasting this time! We tried a few new spots but for the most part, enjoyed a lot of the same activities: walking ..read more

Our Trip to Portland Oregon!

Eric and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary in Portland, Oregon this year! We’ve been fortunate to travel to many neat places together and one of the cool parts about Portland is that you are driving distance to the beach, mountains, wine country, and more. There is so much to see and do and it’s also an incredible city for food! We weren’t sure what to expect from Portland but Eric wanted to check off another state on his list and I was eager to see fall foliage and have a direct flight somewhere. So it seemed perfect! I’ll admit ..read more

Our Couple’s Trip to Santa Fe!

Our first couples trip since having kids was a success! You may remember that Eric and I visited Santa Fe for our first anniversary and we were stoked to go back and show friends one of our favorite cities in the country. City feels like a stretch. I should say town. It’s a quaint village of touristy shops, beautiful pueblos and adobe walls, delicious food and drink, and of course, a place to discover ART!  We visited some of the same places we went for our anniversary but had fun exploring many more! We also upgraded to a beautiful hotel ..read more

It’s been a few years coming, but I’m finally sharing a highly requested post about what to do in Austin! We live in a hip and happening city that has become a popular destination for a long weekend. We frequently get asked what to do while visiting Austin and it’s hard to pick because there is SO much. Eric is the foodie in our relationship who has been all over the city with work, so I thought I’d give him the chance to take over the blog and share all his restaurant recommendations as well as where to stay and ..read more
