Nature – A Michigan Retreat wedding with Caitlin and Bobby. Northern Michigan is a big summer and fall travel destination and destination weddings are common there. Caitlin and Bobby live in Chicago, but have family in Northern Michigan so naturally, chose to get married there. One of my favorite places for a destination wedding in Michigan is Mackinac Island. For those of you that haven’t been there, no cars are allowed on the island so all travel is by bicycle, horse drawn carriage or walking. This really adds a uniqueness and sense of romance to weddings on the island. I adore beach weddings in Michigan, especially when they take place at private residences as beautiful as this one. With the exception of the ceremony (that took place at a nearby church), Mackenzie and Zach’s wedding was held at her parents Lake Michigan beach home in Holland. The War Memorial in Grosse Pointe, Michigan is a favorite wedding venue of mine. It’s classic and elegant and made the perfect location for McKenna and Andrew’s beautiful summer wedding. Their ceremony took place outdoors on the back, lakeside of the building, followed by an indoor reception. I’ve been looking forward to this wedding ever since I met Samantha and Frank for their beach engagement session in Holland. I knew with Design Effect Events doing the planning and Rhiannon Bosse Celebrations doing the design and florals that it would be a stunner of a wedding…and it was.   Venue 3Two is a unique Grand Rapids, Michigan wedding venue and Alexa and Lucas chose to host both their ceremony and reception there. It poured rain the day before this wedding and even though it was a dark day, we were lucky not to have any rain on the wedding day. This was wedding #2 for Molly and Andy. They postponed their larger celebration, originally scheduled in 2020, but chose to have an intimate ceremony and dinner with family.
