I'm trying to change the drive belt on my LA145 and everything was fine until it came time to remove the guard that holds the belt in place behind the steering column. Instead of a guard, it appears that the arms holding the belt in place are part of the body of the mower itself. Even after removing two of the bolts and loosening two other until nearly our, I can't get it to budge. It looks like it's wedged or connected... The starter is dragging. Replaced solenoid and starter. Same problem. Battery at 12+ volts. Voltage to solenoid =12V. Voltage across solenoid =6 V any suggested fixes. Ground is good ..read more

I bought a JD GX345 that was not running. No oil on the dipstick so I assumed the engine was blown. I put oil in it and it started and ran great. The only problem was a massive oil leak on the top of the engine. Removed everything including the flywheel. Found the top of the engine covered in oil. Thinking I had an upper crank seal leaking. The saying, "no good deed goes unpunished" applies to this predicament. After cutting my lawn recently, I decided to clean up the machine. Lifted the seat, removed grass, wiped the frame of gunk, nothing radical. Afterwards, no start, I can hear some solenoids snapping, when the brake is set or the handles out, but no turning over of the starter.
