At this time of year it’s hard to wrap my head around the changing weather. Even I’m ready for it to truly feel like Spring… but I must say that the blanket of white snow on the ground was a perfect setting for Ryan & Mike’s engagement session. We had the best time exploring the Esch Beach + Otter Creek area! The beach was especially stunning with an undisturbed thin layer of snow leading all the way up to the water’s edge. I’m so excited for Ryan and Mike’s wedding in May! Can’t wait! Cheers ..read more

Sarah is such a talent - she has captured my own family multiple times, and I always love an opportunity to return the favor! We had a blast last week with all of this new snow! Such a fun, playful, walk at Oleson Bridge Trailhead along the Boardman River. Enjoy this magical winter wonderland while it lasts ..read more

My son turns 3 years old tomorrow. I met the Ellis family a few years ago and Howie already seems waaayy older than the first time I met him. It is so cliche, so it’s hard to write these words yet again, but it is so true: THE TIME GOES SO FAST. I am so happy that this awesome family invites me back into their lives again and again. Such a sincere thank you. I hope you love these as much as I do. Cheers ..read more

When I walked into the Queeny house last week, Warner was baby-wearing their youngest and sweeping the floor. Edith was helping their oldest get dressed and discussing exactly how many layers of sweaters, dresses and/or skirts would be appropriate for the session. These are the spaces where your children are going to have a million childhood memories. I like to think that in 20 years they will ..read more

I love seeing clients outside of a photoshoot setting - running into them in line at a concert, chatting at the finish line of a bike race, or on a playground. It’s always special when I develop relationships with families who actually live in Traverse City. Not that I don’t love the sessions with folks who are visiting, but there is something different that happens when your work life, family life, friendships, client relationships can all start to merge into a part of the community. It feels really special. The O’Donnels are one of these families and I feel so lucky to have been asked to pho ..read more

Photographing former wedding clients who are about to welcome a new baby just never gets old to me. Honestly, it really doesn’t. I was SO happy to see these two and photograph them in this stage of life… This anticipation, and energy, and love, and hope (and likely some fears) before they get to meet their baby. The fall colors really showed off for us too which was just an added bonus. Cheers! I can’t wait to hear the news of baby’s arrival ..read more
