Hi! Welcome to another A Stones Throw RV Campground Blog updates! We recently updated our website with new content and photos. When we write a website blog update we like to include some unique photos that you might not find on our social media platforms, and with these photos we like to add some “behind the scenes” captions to our photo memories, our personal pats on the back for getting another job done. My Grandpa Monner once told my much younger self something when we were standing in front of his garage one day, a little antidote that has carried me through life, and certainly through ..read more

Hi! Welcome to another Blog update from A Stones Throw RV Campground. We are getting ready for our third season with several new guests joining us this year! It’s very exciting seeing things come together, we are well on our way in creating a quiet little camping community! We have attracted such wonderful people!   Last year we were lucky enough to attract a lovely couple who were very helpful keeping an eye on our new Store/Office and helping us clean washhouses. We felt that before we were ready to acquire help we needed to do everything ourselves, get an idea of what work was invol ..read more

Family Cookbooks

What do you plan on eating tonight? Are there veggies that need to be cooked before they go bad? Has the meat been thawed? What can we cook that the kids will eat, or at least some of it? We have these questions ourselves almost every day and it isn’t easy when you add in “and make it healthy”… Meal planning has become essential in not allowing our grocery dollars go into the garbage but it is hard to not become too routine with the meals as well. We like being in the kitchen, it’s fun trying new things. A lot of our cookbooks have been used from cover to cover. It forces us to try things we m ..read more

Hi! We hope you faired well during that cold snap! Then a warm thaw and now it’s cold again with snow! Gotta love Southern Alberta weather, sure keeps you on your toes! It gave us a little bit of a break not having to work outside in the extreme cold, it gave us a chance to catch up on some computer work. It sure made us think about those ranchers feeding their cattle, giving them extra straw for bedding, chipping ice holes in frozen water troughs. Farmer’s keep their livestock warm and alive despite the weather or elements, happy and healthy animals produce healthy offspring. If you like foo ..read more

Winter frost adorns the Christmas wreath hung on the dog hitching posts outside of A Stones Throw RV Campground Store/Office. Happy New Year! We hope you enjoyed the holidays and this finds you warm and well. Christmas is a magical time of the year, a time when people extend themselves to other folks who may not be family but neighbours, members of your community, and strangers alike. The Milo Community is a “one in a million” special rural community,  a place where local groups are always hosting events throughout the year. We’ve already enjoyed a Milo Lions Pancake Turkey Bingo, a Milo ..read more

Hello and Welcome to A Stones Throw RV Campground Blog!   Our last Blog update was waaaaay back in July. Since last chatting we have grown in every way including over double the number of RV’s that are parked here! They say “Build it and they will come” and it’s becoming a reality! We recently posted on our Facebook Page @astonesthrowrv and we’ve had a tour every day since, even sold a few more sites! Even our accounts on Instagram #astonesthrowrv, LinkedIN and TikTok @astonesthrowrv have all seen a rise in interest the moment we take the time to sit down and type, and maybe add a photo ..read more

Hi! Welcome to another A Stones Throw RV Campground Blog Update!   Our last blog was in the middle of April and this maybe the first time we’ve got to sit down since then! We’ve been run off our feet getting the campground ready with such a late spring, and I don’t know if it has rained since? Mowing and grass whipping the 50 acres of our development is no small task on a good day. But mow and whip we did and really got the place looking sharp for the opening of our second season!   Mother’s Day Tradition   We love our birds at A Stones Throw RV Campground whether they are big o ..read more

Hello and Welcome to our A Stones Throw RV Campground Blog where we chat about what we’ve been up to and how things have been progressing with our campground development. It’s crazy how times flies by, I came across a photo of my two girls who came out to say hi when we were surveying the development for the third time… every time we surveyed we got to look at things with fresh eyes, take something new into consideration… make some changes.   Our first survey was in October of 2019 and it was snowing and windy as all heck, but survey we did. 1,700 survey stakes got pounded each time, thre ..read more

Hello and Welcome to another Blog Post from A Stones Throw RV Campground! Since we last spoke we’ve had freezing cold and warm chinooks, blowing snow and running water. Mother Nature likes to test us as best as she can sometimes, I like to think it just helps us to better appreciate the beautiful days. Rain or shine there is work to be done and we sure have been busy this new year. January flew by, February was a blur and here we are in March. Two sayings come to mind, “Nothing good comes easy” and “No rest for the weary”. The end of January was the first Calgary RV Expo since we launched our ..read more

Hello, We hope this finds you full of family and feasting during this festive season. Much like yourself we have endured extreme cold over the last few weeks, outdoor productivity has wained. Despite the cold conditions ranchers were still out feeding and giving extra straw bedding for their animals, chopping holes into frozen ice, keeping equipment warm and operational. We love our Alberta Beef and want to say thank you to the ranchers for all of their hard work! While we were cooped up in the house we took advantage of the time and did some things we’ve been wanting to do for a long time. Ou ..read more
