Introduction One of the most common things I notice that couples are trying to figure out from even before they reach out to inquire with me is… how many hours of photography coverage do I need for my wedding day?   Where to start As I have alluded to in previous posts when wedding planning, the size of the wedding and type of wedding you have will inform where to start trying to figure out how many hours of photography coverage you need. A smaller wedding with close family and friends in a garden where you will just do a ceremony will lend itself to less hours of photography coverage tha ..read more

Intro As a photographer who does family portraits on wedding days and also as their own thing on portrait sessions, I understand how important these images are to capture. Why do sunset portraits?

Something that I always try to encourage my couples to make time for in their photography timeline is sunset portraits. It generally doesn’t take too long, I always try to budget about 15-20 minutes in the timeline shortly before sunset time for couples portraits. I find that it’s a nice time for my couple to be alone, soak up their newlywed glow, and get some gorgeous photos. The best way to start to think about this is to look at what time the sun sets on your wedding day. In the summer time this can be pretty late and go all the way to 8:30 pm. When it’s spring, fall or winter time you want ..read more

Why getting ready space matters? What’s nice is that in my slower season (which for most New England wedding vendors is the winter time), I get the time to sit down and ask what would be helpful knowledge to share with clients and potential clients. As I start discussing initial photography timelines with my 2024 clients, another thing that comes up is choosing spaces for hair and makeup and getting ready. This varies from Airbnbs to hotels to the venue, so I am here today to give you a few tips to make sure this getting ready space works for you and your group and is a good pick for beautiful ..read more

Abby reached out a few weeks before she wanted to propose to Jess, and I was so excited to start the planning with her. She had planned out taking Jess to one of their favorite places, Long Beach in Centerville, MA and was planning to have her sister and friend help decorate the area before. I had been in communication with Abby and her sister before getting there, and when the big day arrived we were greeted with warmer than average temperatures and a sunny day. Basically the best conditions you could ask for for a December Cape Cod beach proposal. I was there while Abby’s sister Jill and her ..read more

Brett reached out about a month before he was going to propose to his then girlfriend, now fiancé Katie (spoiler alert haha). He and I started planning from there, and it was so much fun being in the loop for such a big surprise. Katie’s parents lived in Connecticut, and he wanted to propose near where they lived. He had researched and found this beautiful park, and had this whole plan. The trickiest part was that there was hardly anywhere to hide, so I enlisted my own husband to be my decoy. I was pretending to be taking photos of him in a field right off of the path while they walked ..read more

I started planning with Sam a couple weeks before his proposal. He and Marissa were going to be in Boston for a little vacation weekend, and he wanted to propose to her while they were there. Leading up to the morning of the proposal, I was in touch with him giving a little map with an x where I wanted him to stand so that I could photograph from a distance. When the weather took a turn, I was a little worried we were going to be rained out but we went for it anyways and it created some of the most epic rainy day photos. After I captured his proposal (she said yes, yay!!), we walked aro ..read more

I was so excited heading into Caitlin and Sam’s wedding day. I actually met Caitlin at her sister Colleen’s wedding in 2021 and I was so happy when she reached out to capture her own wedding photography. I arrived at Caitlin’s suite at Boston Peabody Marriott with lots of smiling bridesmaids, everyone was in such a good mood and it was the perfect vibe to start the day. After capturing detail photos of their invitations and the gorgeous ring box they had (which would later play into their ceremony), the ladies were ready for some fun group photos and toasting with mimosas. I absolutely ..read more
