DIY Coat Closet to Mudroom Transformation

This is probably one of the easier home improvement projects we have done, and one of my favorites. I didn’t realize how much I hated this closet until I was pregnant and spending more time on my couch in the living room. It’s one of the first things you see when you come into our house, and it wasn’t functional at all for our family. My husband decided to tackle this project when I was a little further than 40 weeks pregnant, and I was worried he wouldn’t be able to finish, but like I said before, it was one of the easier projects, and our baby was comfortable in the womb and gave us plenty ..read more

How to Organize your Pantry and KEEP it that Way

I have been putting this one off for FAR too long. After a trip to the grocery store to get stocked up recently, I decided it was actually time to reorganize the pantry. ..or I didn’t have room for everything because it was so cluttered so I had no choice but to do it. EITHER WAY How I Did It This is what I started with. The first step to get things going was to create more space. This is a small pantry, and we obviously need more room to be even relatively organized. I accomplished this by purchasing this bread box. I store it on top of our fridge, which makes sense for us since we are ..read more

How to Make Wooden Silhouette Wall Art

We recently had an order for this bear silhouette wall hanging. Our customer found her inspiration on Etsy here, and told us to use this for reference and make her something! Here’s how we did it: First, we cut off the rounded edges of the wood, so they would lie flat against each other. Then we sanded the wood, laid it out how we wanted it and clamped them together so they didn’t move. Then we sketched out our design, using the link above for reference. Once we had everything sketched out, we shaded in what we were cutting out so we could keep things straight while cutting. Next, usin ..read more

When we were short on money, but wanted to build some dog beds we used pallet wood. It was what made sense. Now we’re able to afford wood, but nothing looks quite like an old piece of pallet wood. AND I’m starting to make a few things and I feel A LOT less guilty when I make a mistake using pallet wood than when I ruin a brand new 1X4 fresh from the lumber yard. Sure, it’s not a big deal. You can always go buy more. But making mistakes is almost a character trait for me, so it becomes an issue after awhile. So, If you’re trying to get into woodworking and don’t want to invest a lot of money o ..read more

Breakfast is one of our favorite meals in our house, and easy recipes are everyone’s favorites. Here’s how I made this easy crescent roll breakfast: [CLICK HERE TO JUMP TO INGREDIENT LIST] First, I mixed some cinnamon and sugar together, fried some ham, got some shredded cheese and made some scrambled eggs. I also made some cream cheese glaze. You can find a million recipes for this if you just google it, but I just mixed together melted butter, vanilla extract, powdered sugar and cream cheese to taste (I’ve never been good at following exact recipes.) After I had all the ingredients pre ..read more

Crafty Ways to Use Leftover Lumber for Home Decor

We had [and still have] a HUGE assortment of wood leftover from home improvement projects piling up in our basement. Tanner swore he would use the wood some day and that it was useful, so we kept it. I decided [after years] to find a use for the wood myself. Here are some of the home decor projects I’ve made using the scraps! “Scrap” Wood Wall Art The mountain wall hanging was actually made from pallet wood, but could just as easily be made from leftovers from a project. The bear silhouette I found online here and painted black. I used a variety of small pieces of wood to make the backgro ..read more

How to Style a Shacket

My mom recently told me she was planning on investing in a bunch of shackets and wearing them all Fall and Winter. I had no idea what a shacket was so I started doing some research and instantly fell in love. I decided right away to invest and found a couple I loved on Shein. As I was assuming, I loved them the second I put them on. I started with adding the plaid shacket to an outfit I already wear pretty often, ripped high waisted jeans and a crop top. I love that the shacket allows me to turn this into an outfit I can wear year-round. For when it’s even colder (which I’m assuming will be ..read more
