Cake by Jason executive chef Jason Hisley gives us all the details of his sweet proposal, upcoming ceremony, and what it’s like to be in the wedding industry when you’re planning a wedding. How We MetOddly enough, Tyler and I met after he saw one of the tv shows I had competed on. He heard that I was from Baltimore and reached out after the show aired. Of course, at first, I almost blocked him because I wasn’t even sure he was a real person. But after we got talking a bit, we decided to meet, and we hit it off. Tyler was actually at sea for several months when we first started dating (Navy R ..read more

One of the challenges of having a destination wedding is trying to get all the “stuff” to Maryland. We’ve been using our last two trips as opportunities to pack mule everything from bridal party presents to rehearsal dinner outfits to my parents’ house. The greatest hurdle has been how to get my dress to Maryland! Originally when I started designing my dress with Anomalie I planned to ship it directly to Maryland and have my fittings there. That was a pipe dream. The reality is that there are multiple fittings and a bustle that needs to happen in August, meaning in Houston. I started researc ..read more

Baltimore Weddings Magazine

Henry and I met our junior year of high school through mutual friends, many many years ago. I honestly thought he was the funniest boy I had ever met, enticing to say the least. We started dating and maintained a thriving relationship despite some distance in college. We quickly became best friends and it was clear to all that our relationship was a lifetime one.    In June of last year, shortly after our graduation from college, Henry picked me up and took me to our favorite date spot on the water in Baltimore. Nick’s Fish House had been a favorite spot of ours for a long time and ..read more

So May 2020 was a special month for us, though different than how we originally planned it. I currently live in NYC and had planned a wedding in Greenwich, CT, where my fiance grew up. He’s Italian-American and I’m Indian-American so we planned a big event for our friends and family that would allow us to celebrate both cultures in a meaningful way. I originally grew up in Owings Mills, Maryland and love the city of Baltimore. Once the Coronavirus hit, it quickly became clear that we needed more space and NYC would be more limited within the lockdown. With that, we decided to quarantine back i ..read more

As a wedding magazine we have been reaching out and talking to couples and vendors about COVID-19 and its affect on the wedding industry. One bride tells her story. “As the coronavirus started to spread around the United States, I started to get increasingly nervous about my April 4th wedding. I wound up deleting my news app because it was causing me so much stress not being in control of the situation. Because our venue, George Peabody Library is affiliated with Johns Hopkins University I knew we were in trouble when the university was closing. On the morning of March 12th, my fianc ..read more

A Baker’s Story: Elise Smith Is Fighting For Her Life
Baltimore Weddings Magazine
by Janelle

Our friend, Elise Smith, from WinniE’s Bakery, is fighting blood cancer. We wanted to let Elise tell her story in hopes she can find her 100% bone marrow match. I was diagnosed with MDS (Myelodysplatic Syndrome w/ bone marrow failure) this year, after a near year-long process to discover the correct diagnosis. My MDS was caused by curative radiation treatment, given to me for my first cancer—thyroid cancer (papillary carcinoma w/ follicular variant). Thankfully, I was cured of my thyroid cancer—just under a decade ago. But, with my case and a growing number of others, oncologist ar ..read more
