Group photo Quad State Conference 2023 Last October I had the pleasure of attending two MTNA sponsored events outside of MA: The Quad State Conference, and a separate Professional Development Day hosted by the New Hampshire Music Teachers Association. 2024 Judged Festival

The 2024 Judged Festival was held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Salem State University, Salem, MA, with the generous support of Salem State University’s Music Department. Judged Festival is a friendly piano competition in a recital format where students compete from the required repertoire list.  This year, 46 teachers participated, and 154 students, ages 6 to 17, registered for the event. We had 15 recitals; three recitals ran simultaneously throughout the day. The Judged Festival has a required repertoire list with a different theme every year. This year, we had 31 contestants coming to Walnut Hill School for the Arts for the state MTNA performance competitions. All the judges were so impressed by the immense talent of these young musicians and are happy to announce 6 winners, 6 alternatives, and 6 honorable mentions. In a world full of strife and opposition on personal, systemic, and global levels, finding our role in creating change can be challenging.
