News on Atlantic Canadian beer, cider, and mead. The ACBB was launched by Greg Delaney in January 2012. After a year of hard work, Greg handed off the blog to Chris McDonald. Chris then roped in fellow homebrewer and beer lover Shawn Meek. Since then, Chris and Shawn have been continuing the work that Greg started, with the goal of sharing the latest and greatest news of the ever-growing beer..

Happy Friday y’all! Warmer weather, buds breaking through the snow, patios being shoveled off, it really is beginning to feel like spring! Of course, we’ll have to keep our snowblowers and scrapers close at hand, but let’s hope the worst of winter is behind us. And let us now turn to beer, because that’s why you tune in every week! Oh, and as next week is Good Friday, we’ll be giving you an All Killer, No Filler post next Thursday to set your (hopefully) long weekend up for beer and cider success! (Note to breweries, please hit us up early next week to be included, in case we check out even ea ..read more

Another big week for beer releases, with more than a dozen from all four Atlantic provinces gracing our pages; it’s always nice when we can share a little bit of beer love for all of our readers. And remember, for our out-of-region folks, many breweries are still offering Canada-wide shipping, so don’t be shy about clicking through on brewery links to see what they’re offering! Now that we’ve exited the season of deep freezes (fingers crossed), breweries are more inclined to send beer out.
Let’s kick off the week with an overwhelming number of stouts hitting the taps in Downtown Dartmouth. New ..read more

Welp, let’s get this out of the way. Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you and yours. While today is a fine day to drink a well-made local stout, we figure any type of beer, cider, or mead will be just perfect to toast the patron saint of Ireland. Plenty of new beers hitting the taps and shelves this week, with local breweries and cideries celebrating the date with live music and events too. So grab a lunch-time beer and read what you can soon be enjoying at your favourite watering hole.
There’s a new beer on tap for pints and growlers at North Grant’s Half Cocked Brewing, perfect for kicking off you ..read more

Do we do another introduction where we talk about the weather? Not this time! In an industry that undoubtedly has highlighted the need for safe spaces, equity and inclusion, this past week many breweries took the time to highlight a lot of their hard-working individuals via social media posts, videos, and new brews. Why is that you ask? International Women’s Day was this past Wednesday and we will keep the messaging and themes from that day ongoing through this weekend and with many beer releases highlighted below. The theme for 2023’s International Women’s Day is #EmbraceEquity. “It’s critica ..read more

Happy mid-February! Not surprisingly, we’re in the midst of some wild weather swings, with dumps of snow followed by double-digit sunny days, leading into some nasty freezing rain type of thing. Don’t let the weather get you down, we’ll soon be free of the frozen stuff and carrying an umbrella full time (no thanks, says this writer!). Enough pitter patter, let’s get to it!
Big news from Prince Edward Island to lead off this week. As the province kicks off hosting duties for the 2023 Canada Games (running tomorrow until March 5), there’s lots of recent and coming-soon news from The Official Bee ..read more

We’re rolling into another weekend and it’s going to be a deep freeze across the whole region. First and foremost, prepare for that Saturday cold and keep yourself and your loved ones safe. Once that’s sorted, you won’t have any trouble keeping your beer cold. With most people bundled up Friday night into Saturday night, make sure you’ve got some treats for yourself tucked away, or grab some craft bevvies before the cold plunge hits!

Happy end of January! For some of the region, this was the first time we’ve seen significant snowfall, for others, it just piled on. Wind and rain throughout the area was de rigueur, and we’re pretty sure we can expect the same weird mix in February as well. Thankfully, the region’s cideries and breweries have been keeping busy inside, giving us plenty to warm us up this time of year. Let’s start off with two big anniversaries being celebrated this weekend…
