I’ve been on a hunt to try something new from a local or out of state distillery. Since I’m located in Philly, I personally had quite a time finding certain brands that were able to ship to Pennsylvania.  Luckily I finally came across one, Mishka Vodka. This brand is owed by Russell Fletcher, Pennsylvania’s first and only African American owned distillery based in Allentown Pennsylvania.  Mishka currently offers cranberry vodka, an original premium vodka and honey vodka. It’s made without added sugars, artificial flavors, artificial coloring and it’s gluten free.  I or ..read more

I recently had a chance to venture over to Pennsauken New Jersey to check out Mama’s Meatballs and Pizzeria located at 2673 Haddonfield Road, Pennsauken NJ. Joseph and Katherine Argento are owners of this brick and mortar and they also own a food truck as well. This spot is known for their amazing meatballs and pizza. Their meatballs are so good, they were voted Best of Philly for best meatballs in 2018! One thing that makes Mama’s Meatballs & Pizzeria stand out from other pizzerias is they use a pizza dough made with Italian standard flour. The process they use in making their dough takes ..read more

I’ve recently been on a hunt for small businesses to check out. After some browsing, I came across Brie’s Artisan Goods! It’s a female black owned business based in Birmingham Alabama. Small batch brownies, bundt cakes and simple syrups are currently available for purchase. I ended up choosing the sweet potato cheesecake brownies and the red velvet cheesecake brownies. Once they arrived, I immediately opened them up and I could smell a sweet aroma. I couldn’t wait to dig in! Both brownies were fresh, moist, rich and quite yummy. The portion of each brownie was also very generous. I also thou ..read more

It’s been a while since I’ve dined at a restaurant since the pandemic began. I decided to take baby steps and have my first brunch outing in 2021! I hopped on my OpenTable app, did some browsing and made reservations at Square 1682.  This restaurant is located in Center City at 121 South 17th Street, Philadelphia PA 19103. It’s also conveniently located downstairs in Philly’s Kimpton Hotel Palomar.  Once I arrived, it didn’t take long for me to pick out some yummy items. The first thing I ordered was the steak and eggs cooked medium, served with sunny-side up eggs and potatoes ..read more

It’s St. Patrick’s Day! What better way to celebrate than bringing it in with a bottle of Powers Irish Whiskey! If you haven’t heard of this brand, here’s a little history to shine some light on this awesome whiskey! In 1791, John’s Lane Distillery was established by James Power. Powers iconic “Diamond P” was one of Ireland’s first ever trademarks and is a symbol of pride. In 1886 Powers was one of the first to bottle its own whiskey, Powers Gold Label. In 1889, Powers invented the world’s first miniature spirit bottle named the “Baby Power”. Fast forward to 1971, “Powers Irish” was establish ..read more

Dining at Azie On Main!

Nestled in the Villanova section of Montgomery county Pennsylvania is Azie On Main, located at 789 East Lancaster Avenue, Villanova PA 19085. They have been in business since 2009. The cuisine featured at this restaurant is contemporary Asian fusion. Once you walk through the door, you’ll immediately be captivated by the lovely modern decor. The bar area is pretty spacious and there’s also beautiful booths available across from the bar area, which in my opinion would make perfect seating for a romantic date night. If you’re looking to sip on a cocktail or two while browsing the menu, I’d recom ..read more

Weekends are made for relaxation, tons of fun and of course brunch! One place that I recommend for brunch is The Twisted Tail, located at 509 S. 2nd Street Phila PA 19147 (between South St. & Lombard) owned by George Reilly. When I go out for brunch, I usually like to go before the crowds come out. I love feeling like I almost have the restaurant to myself. Now, it’s time to check out my brunch highlights! One item that I think is a perfect choice to start with is the Spicy Big Eye Tuna. It’s spicy tuna on bibb lettuce with avocado and crispy shallots. It’s a light starter that’s very fres ..read more
