Jason: Is there a way to find out if a model in OpenFAST converges? Kind of similar to CFD, for example, where the mesh refinement can alter accuracy of results/help one to determine if model converges. Regards, AOAW Statistics: Posted by Andre.White — Wed Jan 19, 2022 11:01 am ..read more

Dear Jonkman, I tried other wind speed at 13mps、14mps、15mps、16mps、17mps、18mps. Finally, I get zero rows. Also, I added other variables including RtAeroFxh、RtAeroCp、RtAeroFyh in AeroDyn OutList, and their rows are also zero. There are my linearization files in wind speed 18mps. 5MW_Land_Linearization_18mps.rar Then I set Gendof=false and linearized at 12mps, openfast did linearization at 0deg pitch. And it is still zero. There are my linearization files with Gendof=false at wind speed 5MW_Land_ModeShapes_Gendof=false_12mps.rar This is a LinFile. Code: Linearized model: Predictions were ge ..read more

Dear Seonghwan.Kim, The length of these files can be determined by multiplying the simulation length and the mean wind speed. E.g., for the case that is 700 s long at 11.4 m/s, the length is 7980 m. Best regards, Statistics: Posted by Jason.Jonkman — Mon Jan 17, 2022 3:01 pm ..read more

Dear Jason, Thank you for your answer. It covered another question that I had in mind. However, my first question was indeed a bit confusing. More specifically, I want to model wind/wave misallignment conditions of the IEA 15 MW RWT, so, since wave direction should be set to 0 deg for the UMaine floater, the wind direction should be altered, together with the nacelle yaw, so as to have the turbine axis aligned with the incoming wind. However, this rotation will alter the distance of the blades from both x and y axes, which will have an effect on the turbine's inertia as far as the roll and ..read more
