Fact-Checking @thefoodbabe The Food Babe recently shared a reel breaking down her thoughts on butter at the grocery store. This video gained quite a bit of traction on Instagram. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was time to do a little myth-busting on her butter opinions. Below are the six myths from the video and my response to them.  1) Everything is a Factory Farms Yea, that isn’t the case. 97% of dairy farms in the United States are family-owned and operated.  2) Cows are fed candy While that is not entirely wrong, that isn’t the whole story. Cows may be fed many unconventional foo ..read more

One of my favorite parts of my job is public speaking. The main topics I cover are dairy sustainability, modern dairy farming, how to connect with consumers, how to share your farm story, and more. I recently had the opportunity to speak to the Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association. Through my experience as a panelist, presenter, keynote speaker, host, and master of ceremonies, I have gathered five of my top tips for public speaking.  1) Speak about something you are passionate about This top may seem obvious, but your listeners will be able to tell if you are no ..read more

9 Ways You Know You Grew Up on a Dutch Dairy (Updated)
New Mexico Milkmaid Blog

Growing up in our dairy community in Eastern New Mexico, it felt like everyone I knew was Dutch and dairy farmers. So all of my family's weird quirks seemed normal. It was not until I was older did I realize not everyone did all these things. I have included just a few fun facts. Some are more dairy, some are more Dutch. 1. Shaking the gallon of milk before pouring it We have all done it, forget to shake the gallon of milk and ended up with cream on our cereal instead of milk! Raw milk is not homogenized like pasteurized milk. So the cream settles on the top.**Please hold your comments about ..read more

Does sharing about dairy online really make a difference? A question I have been asked and asked myself more times than I care to admit. Recently I did see the power of social media in a TikTok trend. Let’s go back to last year when the entire world was obsessed with a pasta TikTok recipe featuring tomatoes and feta cheese. To most people, this was just another trend that came and went. Have you ever wondered about the power that a social media trend holds? Time to break down precisely what that feta pasta recipe did for the dairy industry.  Here is the link to the original feta ch ..read more

created BY AG | created FOR AG A few years back, I had a vision for a course similar to Elevate Ag. I poured many hours into this idea, and it didn’t quite work out. Little did I know I just needed a new partner and a fresh perspective. Insert Natalie Kovarik, a rancher and agriculture influencer from Nebraska.  We are well aware that hundreds of courses are out there. But we are taking a different approach. Elevate Ag’s main goal is to provide an opportunity to amplify the voices of people in the agriculture community with the expertise of two ag producers. Between the two of us, we hav ..read more

Organic vs. Conventional Farming & Fear-Based Marketing
New Mexico Milkmaid Blog

I try to support all agriculture, not bashing anyone type or another, and share the facts while having fun with it. My goal is never to put down anyone, including organic or conventional farms. So many people fall victim to fear-based marketing or articles written to create division. I wanted to share some thoughts on organic vs. conventional farming and fear-based marketing we are exposed to every day. I would guess most of us have seen the commercial for an organic milk company (I won’t name names) that somewhat vilifies conventional milk. It shows what is supposed to be a cartoon animatio ..read more
