Getting told you have ‘potential’

Hi guys! First of all, I wanted to say that I know it’s annoying to see another runt making a post but I’ve searched through the forums and I can’t seem to find anything about this. A few months ago I got scouted by a really big agency in London and after meeting with them I was told that I have ‘potential’ and that I should come back in ~ 8 months (around my birthday). I’m not sure whether to take this as they are considering if I am a right for them or if it’s some kind of agency lingo... Read more ..read more

Model Personality?

Hi all, firstly, I'd like to apologize if this thread has been posted before, but I haven't seen it. I just had my first meeting with a scout, and he told me that I needed to work on my personality more. I completely agree with this statement as I tend to mute my personality upon first meeting someone, but I'm not exactly sure what's wanted. I don't want to come off as too excited or annoying, but I also don't want to be boring and easily forgotten. Should I make it like a conversation... Read more ..read more

What do you think about this agency?

Since I'm not even 17 and a half, I was hoping that I still had chances to grow taller (I'm 167/168cm, which is 5'6), and grow maybe 2 inches or so (I know I'm delusional, but who knows?) Anyway, I did realize that I'm never gonna grow any taller, and that I wouldn't be able to be a model anyway. Out of curiosity, I looked up agencies in my area, and this one came up, which seemed pretty legit: http://www.zooxzygirls.com/ They have hospitality and fashion divisions. I looked up... Thread for posting looks on models on the runway, versus in real life - who's wearing them, how well do they translate, and who wears them better (I bet we all can guess the answer to that...)? Anna S in Balmain Kate Bosworth in the same dress (actually doing it justice) at the Met Gala... Read more ..read more

ive searched everywhere in this forum for a thread regarding this and I can't seem to find it :/ perhaps it doesn't exist? I just need to ask (especially anyone who works in the industry) how can I catch the attention of an agency when I submit my pictures and not get my application thrown in the trash? Like what do you look for in model applications? What not to do? Etc ..read more

According to a 2019 survey conducted by news publication Fashionista, bullying is allegedly the "norm" in the fashion industry. Fashionista surveyed 640 professions in the fashion industry (including people working in PR, editorial, retail and design roles). According to the survey: 81% of surveyors said they have been bullied by coworkers at least once. Of those respondents, 72% stated they’ve been publicly humiliated by their bosses as a form of punishment, while 70%... Read more ..read more

Iconic Runway Moments

Fashion week is always exciting for me, but some moments are definitely more memorable than others (good but also very very bad). This thread is to share/remember what has made the history - or almost. Not necessarily in a positive way. I’ll start with some photos Naomi falling at Vivienne Westwood FW ‘93 McQueen setting the stage on fire (literally) for his FW ‘98 Kate Moss smoking while closing at Vuitton by MJ “Marc Jacobs pulled out all of the stops for his... Getting into modelling as a twenty-something?

Haven't posted in fucking forever but in desperate need of some advice from someone who'll be honest with me. I got scouted on the street a week ago by a local agency that has been doing fairly well for itself. As a 23-year old with a good inch to lose on my hips, I am feeling pretty shocked they'd even approach me. I got in contact and they said they see a lot of potential, but obviously need me to lose the weight to get to 34" if I am serious about this. Regardless of whether I'd be... Read more ..read more
