It’s tax season! Unless you’re getting a refund, right? Those people filed their taxes right away. Anyway, there is art all over this wonderful city. How can we see it all? The Other Art Fair is this weekend. There’s an opening at the Los Angeles Makery tonight. All kinds of good stuff. Wander over to Poets Place, which Linda sent in from Paris, France, and see what her merry poets have written this month. First heatwave is coming next week! What outdoor art can everyone check out? How about mural tours? That sounds like fun. WHAT:      In celebration of Jazz Appre ..read more

We are moments away from time change and longer days. It should be warmer too. It makes seeing outdoor art all the more pleasant. Have you been to the Huntington lately, or Descanso Gardens? Both places with gorgeous gardens and equally wonderful art. If you wander over to Barnsdall Park, you can catch the show, Apophenia at the LAMAG in the park, which closes March 16th. You can also see the Hollyhock House, by Frank Lloyd Wright. Los Angeles is truly blessed to have so many art venues. A fresh month means a fresh dose of poetry from Linda Kaye and her poets over at Poet’s Place. Check out h ..read more

LA Art Show is next week, opening on Valentine’s evening. See you there! This week is Intersect Palm Springs. Always a good, compact show. I do love Palm Springs. And I can sneak in a visit to Modernism while in the area. With Frieze in early March, art fair season is open. I enjoy in indulging in an abundance of art at one time. Everyone needs to go over to Poet’s Place to see who Linda has gathered this month, to share their poetry. 9 Days Until LA Art Show 2024... Get Your Tickets Now and Avoid the Lines! This is one of the most important years of our lives. No, really. The upcoming elections are the most important ever. It’s unbelievable that some people in this country “think” they would like a dictator leading them. Wrong. So as artists, it is our job to make sure the right people win the elections. Am I allowed to be political here? Of course! Art is about communicating and educating and then, maybe entertaining. It’s about expressing ideas and illuminating the truths that we need spread far and wide. How do you do it? If you’re the leader type, start a group of like minded individuals. Or ..read more

How Can it be November Already?

I heard Christmas music in Target last night. Not cool. Home Depot is overflowing with giant animated Christmas decorations. Also not cool. It really removes the joy of the holidays if they are forced upon us months in advance. Listen to me bitch and moan. I know you all feel it too. So, I will make art to soothe my soul, and give me things to sell during the holiday season. Creativity is my happy place! And sharing it with others is cool. Check out this month’s Poet’s Place to see what Linda Kaye’s poetry posse has to say. Here are some other suggestions of places to go and art to see. Go ch ..read more

It’s October. Spooky Season. There are a lot of shows and events happening this month, and you can feel it just ramping up as, dare I say it, holiday season is also upon us. Check out their website to learn more about the line up of films being shown October 6-7, 2023, at the Highland Theatre in Highland Park. September has Arrived!

We ended August with a little hurricane in LA. Burning Man turned into Muddy Man. Climate change is real. But most of us know that. Things we need to live with and figure out how to navigate in the future. Many artists are using this calamity we’re in to inspire their art. I know we need to use it to inspire change in the way we all live. Here’s one of the conundrums though. I’m an artist, as are a majority of my friends. We make more stuff. All in the name of art, which is a good thing, until it’s not. Those that re-use, and recycle, and repurpose, rock. But as a glass artist, I see some crea ..read more

August...Please Remember to Hydrate.
LA Art News
by Cathi Milligan

August is upon us. It’s starting to warm up a bit in LA and the surrounding areas. I’m grateful after such a depressing first half of the year. Yes, I appreciate the water we received so much, but the “white sky” for as long as we had it was just too much. Done belly aching about that, and I promised I wouldn’t bitch about the heat because of what I just went over. So, bring the warmth and the sunshine and the longish days, and remember to hydrate. While you’re cooling off you can go over to Poet’s Place and check out the poetry Linda Kaye has put together this month. I’m listing some other c ..read more
