It’s rhubarb season, which means it’s the perfect time to whip up an easy and scrumptious strawberry rhubarb crumble! Late spring is now in full swing here in Montreal with the heat slowly becoming unbearable and lots of rainstorms which means that the summer season has officially begun. Along with it being a while since I last shared a recipe, I decided to come back and share with you all one of my favorite summer desserts: the classic rhubarb crumble! It’s super simple, quick to make, and oh so delicious that you’ll be wanting seconds. And thirds. And heck, maybe even fourths! This recipe i ..read more

Guten tag, everyone! I know that it’s technically spring but since it’s been snowing on and off all week I’m going to go ahead and ignore that. Also just going to gloss over the fact that it has been almost three months since I last posted on Plaid and Sugar (and that itself was an update post to not having posted ^_^) and head straight into this skincare post. So let’s get to it! A lot of things have changed in these last months and one of them is my skin. Specifically what skincare products it responds to well and what routine prevents my face from breaking out as much. And while my skin is ..read more

A Little Autumn Fun | what happened in Summer
Plaid and Sugar
by Loren

Hallo! So how is everyone doing? Not really sure how to start this post, but after an unplanned summer hiatus, I am back! With the fall season in full swing and school back in session, I thought that this was the ideal time to write an update and share the autumn fun things I’ve been up to lately. What happened First I’ll start with an update of sorts. When I wrote the One Day Trip to Vermont post I had not expected that it would be the last post I’d write or publish for over three months. I do not know what happened but somehow between work and life, I subconsciously decided to take a summer ..read more

Plaid and Sugar

As the title says, after a couple of years of not leaving the country we drove down to the U.S of A. Specifically a one-day trip to Burlington, Vermont. There I got to know the city, I visited Joann the fabric store for the first time ever and got a dozen of Simplicity patterns for a tiny fraction of the cost! But before I get ahead of myself, I’ll just start by saying Happy June! It’s hard to believe we’re already halfway through 2022. Honestly, not much has happened in these last six months, except if you can count me being absent from Plaid & Sugar (whoops!). However, it hasn’t been te ..read more

Hi everyone, it’s been a while since I’ve been on here. Almost two months in fact. Whoops! It’s also been the first time in years, or ever really, that I have gone such a long time without sharing a post on Plaid and Sugar. While it was an unplanned blogging break, it was a welcomed respite, to be honest. While not much happened during these last couple of months, it was still nice to step back from blogging no matter how much I love it. where I’ve been In early February, universities opened up again and after almost two years of doing online coursework and I went back to in-person classes. Heartwarming Raspberry Oat Scones | cozy and quick

Freezing temperatures call for warm blankets, a good book, and tea. And what goes best with tea? Well, these raspberry oat scones! Like most of Canada, this past week has been way below freezing with a lot of snow thankfully I’m doing school online (for now) and so I haven’t had to walk in windy, snowy, cold weather yet. But nevertheless, the cold is still felt indoors. So one way to combat this (besides turning the heat on high, which it already is), is to put on warm fuzzy socks and make a good cup of chai. Oh, and can’t forget some heartwarming raspberry oat scones! Also, in a way fulfilli ..read more

Therefore, today I’ll be sharing a winter bucket list of ideas that will help you make the most of the coldest season of the year and get out of the house! With over 20 winter activities on this list, there is something for everyone. From indoor to ..read more

Happy New Year to all of you! Like, almost, always this post was meant to be published last week but I’ve been feeling burned out due to this past school semester and the pandemic so blogging was placed on the back burner. In any case, it’s never too late to look back on the past year. While these types of posts don’t usually bring as many views, I enjoy writing them because it reminds me of everything that occurred (the good, the bad, and the ugly), and like this blog, it acts as a time machine of sorts. Since this year was eventful, I could not not write a summary of 2021 and so here it is ..read more

Thanksgiving is over, do you know what that means? It’s the time! It is finally the holly jolly season. The time of year when joy is plentiful and the food is delicious, who doesn’t love a good Christmas party appetizer. Christmas is also the time of year for parties! As an introvert, I have never been a fan of parties. They are overwhelming and exhausting. However there is one exception to this rule, and that is Christmas parties.  Photo by Katie Azi on Unsplash *But before we start the post, I (Loren) wanted to welcome Jackie from Jackieem blog for coming and guest posting on Plaid and ..read more
