Embarrassed and scared

My mouth is in a terrible state. I need words of encouragement or moral support to get myself to the dentist. My last dentist was just awful and it’s made it so much worse to go back. I made a complaint and was given a different dentist to see at the same practice but I’m still so scared, I haven’t been back to even meet him yet. The last dentist said I need 5 molars out and 3 wisdom teeth. I need this so badly because it’s painful to eat, I haven’t eaten anything crispy or crunchy in... Read more ..read more

Hi I’m sorry I know this is probably a dumb question but I’m very scared, I have two infections, one on each side, each a molar on the bottom, I’ve had them for 6 months, I was on amoxicillin clav for about 7 days twice a day and it didn’t help so my dentist put me on it for three times a day instead, I’m so scared it’s spreading, I keep getting pins and needles feelings all over my body since last night and my pinky toe started hurting randomly last night while I was laying in bed, it looks... Two Tooth Extractions on Tuesday - Terrified!

Hey everyone! About 9 months ago I was eating and the molar next to my bottom right wisdom tooth cracked in half. I'd not been to the dentist in over 20 years, but with the help and support of my lovely partner and this website, I've since had a checkup, cleaning and filling. Now the only thing left is to remove the broken tooth and (because of the angle of the wisdom tooth), the wisdom tooth next to it. I'm having this done under local anaesthesia only and it's being carried out by a top... Read more ..read more

Hi Gordon. Not sure if you remember this but i wrote saying i suffer from agraphobia but needed a dentist. You advised me to write to a dentist to tell them everything and ask if the could help. Well the good news is i did just that, literally asked if my first appointment could be for a talk only then go from there. The dentist contacted me back after reading my letter and as said he is pleased to offer an appointment there and to take things as slow as im comfortable doing things. I wont... Granulation Tissue after Extraction
Dental Phobia Forum

I had my #19 molar extracted about 12 days ago now. I think i've been healing fine so far, no pain or dry socket or anything like that. My biggest concern is the white stuff coming out of my extraction site, which google has told me is "granulation tissue". The problem is that it's grown so big and floppy that i'm scared it's about to fall out. Is that normal? How long does it take to fall out? Does it re-grow? What's under it? I'm sorry for all the questions but I'm the type of person who... Read more ..read more

Gap between bridge and gum
Dental Phobia Forum

I’ve had this bridge for over 40 years and over time, there has appeared a gap between the bridge and the gum. It hasn’t caused any problems though. However, my dentist thinks that I should either, allow him to fill the gap - or remove the bridge entirely to see what’s underneath and then either fit a new bridge or remove the post and fit dentures. I’m inclined to leave well alone to be honest. The thought of having all that done is beyond terrifying ..read more

Fear of deep cleaning

Hi, I have some gum disease which has been treated for some years by scaling and root planing (deep cleaning). I had a very good dentist who always gave me enough anaesthetic before he started so that the procedure never hurt. Unfortunately he has retired so I am now looking for a new one to treat my gums painlessly, which I know is possible. I went to a specialist periodontist who would give me a shot, start, and then I would feel pain so he would give me another shot. It never made for a... Read more ..read more
