“These findings underscore the importance of detecting cancer early before it spreads,” Gogs writes. The American Cancer Society warns of a concerning uptick in prostate cancer associated with advanced disease. These findings underscore the importance of detecting cancer early before it spreads. Without testing is a lot like driving a car without gauges. Sure, the car may work fine. But all of a sudden, and without warning, you run out of gas. Or worse, your motor starts to grind and then seizes because it ran out of oil. To read the article, please visit Late-Stage Prostate Cancer is on the ..read more

Prostate Cancer is not just an old man’s disease
Gogs Gagnon

Gogs thought prostate cancer was just an “old man’s” disease – until his diagnosis at age 57. It affects younger people, too. I always thought prostate cancer was an “old man’s” disease. After all, I didn’t know anyone who had it. And I understood that prostate cancer could affect male erections and urinary control. But I figured that by the time men experienced those issues, they were already too old to care. That is until my diagnosis of prostate cancer at age 57. I’m Thankful for Early Cancer Detection

Even though I had no symptoms, my prostate cancer was caught thanks to frequent follow-ups with my doctor.  I cannot emphasize enough that there is nothing good about cancer. Nobody wants to face a cancer diagnosis of any kind. There are no “good cancers.” All cancers can inflict painful and permanent damage on the body and mind. Even if treatment is successful, there is no returning to “normal” as emotional and physical impacts remain for life. Therefore, it’s critical not to take our health for granted. PSA Testing: by Tony Collier

Some doctors think the PSA test does more harm than good. Tony shares why he believes the test is important. It was an honour to see my name mentioned in an article written by Tony Collier. Tony writes, “I’ve just read Gogs Gagnon’s article, The PSA Blood Test Controversy, and on this subject, thought I’d add to the conversation. If I’d known about the PSA test and that I’d had a right to one from age 50, my cancer could have been caught early, and I could have had curative treatment with a much better outcome. Instead, I’m living life on a knife edge, waiting in the full knowledge that ..read more
