I am hesitant to post a question about a drum machine in this forum, but here goes. I fricking love the sound of TR909 drums. I want to have these sounds in my live shows, but I don't really have the money to put up for one of these machines. What is the best reasonably priced solution (not interested in software)? I am using this for electronica music. It at least needs to have a sequencer. I can get a TR707 for $100. I have never heard the 707 though. Is it similar to the 909 ..read more

Hello Fellow members of HomeRecording I am new to your forums but i know there are some very knowledgeable people here as i have read many helpful conversations when i first obtained my MS-16. Now to start with i would like to inform all that i don't use this machine for composition. i bought it as i just love the sound of tape and for my interest in historic machinery, i would prefer to have an older machine so if anyone in the Brisbane area Australia is interested in selling i might just... clip>On listening a bit more forensically once I had some downtime, the UST in its Vintage setting sounded very close indeed to my own 1971 U87, which explains why I immediately felt confident using it on vocals- SOS 2022 clip>So, I’m assuming everyone’s question is: Does the UT Twin87 sound like a vintage or modern Neumann U 87/U 87 Ai? Well, yes... and no. I say that because I’ve A/B’d three original Neumann U 87s in the past, and each of them sounded quite different... Read more ..read more

I see a lot of wave file mixes mastered to 0 dBFS peak. That has the potential for producing peaks above 0 dBFS. In fact, it's virtually guaranteed given modern audio production methods. There are two reasons for this. First is how digital data is converted to analog. DACs have to process the audio with a low pass filter during conversion to properly reconstruct an analog waveform. As a result, the analog waveform can "overshoot" the peaks represented by the digital samples ("intersample... Read more ..read more

I saw a mic on aliexpress, and as it was less than £20, I bought one. The strange thing is that for the money, it's actually rather good. See what you think? I stuck it on a soprano sax - which is and instrument that really never records properly on bright mics ..read more

I have an audiobox interface connected to my computer. I got a small Pyle 4-channel mixer and as a surprise, I got a RC1 Boss looper as a gift. I play several instruments. The question is how do I hook this all up so I can record on my computer? I'm doing this for my entertainment and to eventually post somewhere ..read more

QS8 volume control slider

My QS8 slider is out again. I wanted to replace it last time but could not find a replacement. The schematic does not give you a part number. I bought a slider that seemed to meet the specs I could find. It didn't work. I wound up taking the original one apart, cleaning it and putting it back together and it has worked till now. It is not designed to be taken apart and I don't think it will survive another "operation". It is a different slider than the four next to it or I would just switch... Read more ..read more

Electrical Interference Diagnosis

Hi HomeRecording.com Forum Readers, I have an issue with my recording space and I hope you can hep me diagnose the problem, and maybe even suggest some solutions. The problem is that I am picking up hum or a "buzz" into my system. The sound is not audible to ears, only through the recording equipment, which has me assuming that this is electrical interference. Overall, the sound is variable, so some days it's unnoticeable, but one occasion has ruined a day's take. During troubleshooting... Read more ..read more
