Continually being complimented about my body after having Quentin was strange because I was struggling with being a new mom and having overwhelming postpartum anxiety… I wasn’t eating great and of course I wasn’t sleeping well but YAY CONGRATS, YOU’RE SKINNY AGAIN!
After having Sydney, I lost the weight again and it took a little bit longer without doing anything really. My body still looks different. Bigger and smaller. Smaller and bigger. So much change. So many thoughts. But the main one is.. can we stop the constant pressure to have a “pre-baby body” post baby?
My go to isn’t usually bod ..read more

I got an email a few days ago letting me know my website hosting had expired. Since I had gotten a new credit card, the auto payment didn’t work and if I didn’t update in like 3 weeks everything would be gone. And it got me thinking, like do I even care to keep paying for this?
This blog has taken such a back seat since getting pregnant and especially once I decided to no longer pursue photography. I mean this was all started for my website and blog for my photography business. It morphed into my lifestyle blog. At one point, I really thought it would be my travel blog. But this has all got m ..read more

“I miss them but I don’t miss taking care of them” – literally the only way I know how to describe motherhood. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Those dang kids of mine are effing adorable. Quentin is so funny and smart. Sydney laughs easily and makes me smile just by being her cute chunky baby self. We have fun and I love watching them interact together. But zetus lepetus, it’s exhausting being needed so dang much. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m grateful I get to stay at home with them because I’d be a mess if it were any other way. But also like can I admit the thing that we’re not supposed to admit? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s not fulfillin ..read more

by @melanieamparophotography I always dread when people ask if I’m breastfeeding. I’m ready to get defensive. To justify. Like I’ve got something to prove. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My midwife asked at my 6 week appointment, I said no and started to explain, she said okay.. whatever works for you and I sighed relief. She went on to say “I lot of people are surprised that it’s my stance, but most importantly we need mamas to be happy and healthy. If you want support and suggestions I can give them to you, but your mental health is important. Do what’s right for your family.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ Mamas we need more ..read more

I never wanted to be pregnant.
And I feel guilty admitting it. I know women who sacrifice SO much to become pregnant, who suffer loss or just can’t. But when I was younger, I used to say that I wanted to go into a coma + to wake up when the baby was 3 months old. I was scared because the magnitude of being a mother is not lost on me. But I was scared of giving birth mostly.
My tattoo that says “dolor hic tibi proderit olim” which means, someday this pain will be useful to you. I got it a year before Quentin was born. And it became my pregnancy, childbirth + motherhood mantra.
Someday this pain ..read more

Hi, there. Face here.
I started this series on my instagram and facebook because I was scrolling through and reading various comments talking about babies, breastfeeding and all the bullshit that comes along with motherhood and it got me thinking.
After having Q and again while prepping for Sydney’s arrival, I shared a bit about my postpartum anxiety and breastfeeding issues. Most of the times I wondered if it mattered but tend to push post because I find it kind of therapeutic to translate my word vomit emotions and write out my thoughts into (mostly) cohesive sentences.
I found conversatio ..read more

This pregnancy and labor were totally different from Quentin. Hindsight is 20/20 so I think I was having contractions throughout the week/day before labor really kicked in, it just ended up feeling totally different than it did with Quentin.
On Wednesday, the midwife offered to check and see if I was dilated but I had Q at the appointment with me so I decided not to. He never did well at the appointments, always trying to leave and getting nervous just when we’d listen to her heartbeat. Of course now, I’m more curious how far dilated I already was!
Thursday morning I decided to go to T ..read more

As a mom I just don’t accessorize very often anymore, mainly because my go to look is sweats but also because having a baby pull on your necklace or earrings ain’t fun. But since getting engaged I do wear my ring daily and Q isn’t pulling on my jewelry as much any more, so I’ve been trying to make it a point to accessorize my looks again!
The easiest piece to pair with an outfit when I finally change into something cute outfit for date night or appointments is this Jord Watch. Although they’re known for their beautiful wood watches the most (I even gave one to Chandler a few years ago for Chr ..read more
