Hello everyone, I have a question about calculating forces when bending. I want to bend a flat sheet completely round using a cylindrical mandrel and two bending forms. Bending sequence: 1. as you can see in the picture, the force is transmitted from above via the two bending mandrel heels (the force is distributed evenly, 2x Fmin/2, so to speak). 2) In the first step, the sheet is pressed completely into the radius of the lower mold by the bending mandrel. 3 The bending mandrel remains in... Hi all, In case you didn't know, every once in a while, NCEES updates the errata sheet for their practice exams, but makes no "official" announcement (that we know of). Check your discipline exam errata in their website The Mechanical TFS and MDM were updated November 22nd, and 23rd, respectively. The HVAC&R errata was last updated 2/8/2021. The previous TFS errata was dated 4-4-2022. Here is what they fixed for this version (we had notified them about all of these corrections... Read more ..read more

Hi all guys I'm new on this forum, and I write this post to ask you for help on a mechanical engineering, hydrodynamic, advanced level problem that I am not able to solve and I hope that some of you certainly better than me can to help. The problem is the following: (I enclose the hydraulic diagram, sorry I know it is not accurate, I did it again on the fly on the PC by copying it from the workbook, unfortunately it is not to scale but it should still be useful to understand the exercise)... What happened? Before CBT everyone had a test on the same date and it was very lively posting and interacting as people were in a cohort with that common test date. Then, after the test date came the flood of posts with the post-mortems. I expected some drop of activity when NCEES went to CBT but nothing like this, frankly. Sometimes it can be several WEEKS before someone gets a reply to a post ..read more
