Hi all, I am looking to replace my Nikon P1000 for a new OM-1 mk2 with this lens, Olympus OM SYSTEM M.Zuiko Digital ED 150-600mm F/5.0-6.3 IS Lens. As its such a lot of money its a bit of a worry if a little overkill as Ive only started getting into photography of birds. I bought the P1000 which has an incredible zoom but not the picture quality. Does anyone else have this above combo ? Thanks ..read more

Zuiko 100 - 400 vs 300

Dear all I bought the 100 - 400 lens as when I got the OM1 I was about to go on a trip to Uganda and so needed a wide telephoto range for larger mammals that were fairly close. I am now considering changing to the 300 mm as most users find the AF considerably better, the images sharper and the fact that it is f4 would be an advantage in low light. It is a bit of a hit to the wallet so have people on this forum who have made the change found the 300 a big improvement? Steve ..read more

Jan 30 release of products

43rumors.com broke the news about 3 products to be announced on Jan 30: 1. OM-1 MkII 2. 9-18mm MkII 3. 150-600 f5-6.3 (not Pro) Of interest to this forum would be #1 and #3. Regarding #1, the site says it is the same sensor as the original OM-1 (?), but with faster buffering and improved AF. Many commenters assert that it is a new, stacked sensor. No corrections have been made to date. IMO, if it is the same sensor, it rings the death knell for OM Systems/Olympus. Regarding #3, this is... Read more ..read more

OM-1 with Olympus M.Zuiko 150 x 400mm TC Pro

Raided my savings and part-exchanged my Zuiko 300mm Pro for the 150 - 400mm. Still squirming with guilt over £6799. Here’s a (very) brief amateur review. Much more comprehensive reviews are widely available. This is aimed at those who are put off by the price. Build quality is excellent. It reminds me of my old second hand Canon 500mm F4. As solid and durable but much, much lighter. At 1.875 Kg it’s a whopper in micro 4/3 terms, but comfortable to hold and carry around for a day. Image... Read more ..read more

Rumored OM System lenses: 50-200mm f2.8 and 50-250mm f4

(FT4) OM Digital might announce the 50-200mm f/2.8 and 50-250mm f/4.0 in late 2023! – 43 Rumors www.43rumors.com Would any of these interest you? I am interested in the 50-250mm f/4. If it is less than 1 kg, weather sealed, and around $1K USD, that would be my future birding lens. (In other words, less expensive, smaller, lighter than the 100-400mm f/5-6.3) Not sure if that is realistic. A nice to have would be TC compatibility, but I think I can get by with 500mm equivalent FOV ..read more

Turning on flash for OM1

Dear all Sorry I am probably being really daft but I can't get my OM1 to work with a flash. When I press the Sequential shooting/self-timer/ flash. I can see that flash is off. It looks like this should be changed by rotating the front dial but this doesn't work and I am at a loss as to what to do. Any help much appreciated. Steve ..read more

It is here: OM SYSTEM M.Zuiko Digital ED 90mm f/3.5 Macro IS PRO | London Camera Exchange. I've been looking forward to this lens. I have to admit that, although I knew it wouldn't be cheap, I was hoping it would be a little less pricey ..read more
