This past weekend, one of my favorite women in Memphis and now several more of my favorite women in Memphis joined forces to host the SHE 901 Tour. A Tour of Possibilities collaborates with ARCHd and 492 Vance, LLC, to curate an experience that celebrates Memphis’s history, art, food, and shopping, all while honoring and supporting Memphis women, both past and present. How to Curate A Well Lived Life this Year
Andrea Fenise

Your life can be whatever you dream of it to be. The most beautiful well lived, however you envision it to be, can come true with a bit of attention to detail. Curating intricate experiences and moments is what I suggest rather than becoming fixated on resolutions and goals. You need to become the curator of your own life. Embracing this approach to living has absolutely changed my life. Curating your life is based on your desires and aesthetics. Those lingering desires that we have longed for, for as long as we can remember. A curated lifestyle honors the wishes you have for yourself and the ..read more

As this year comes to a close, you're probably already thinking about next year, planning vision parties, and even adding in personal development goals as well. As an entrepreneur leading with passion and purpose, there are ways to be more intentional about analyzing progress, what is working or not, and putting new services and goals into motion for the next year. In December, we take the month off from client projects and use the time to reflect on what has worked and what hasn't. I'm sure you know as entrepreneur but throughout the year, we are so consumed with client projects and the day ..read more

Where are we with Big Mama's House?
Andrea Fenise

This month was all about seeing where we are so that we know where we are going. Due to legalities of the purchase, we bought the property AS IS. I’ll be honest this was an impulsive and emotional purchase. Under normal circumstances, we would have thought three or four times before purchasing the property. When I rode through the neighborhood reminiscing prior to the purchase, Daniel let me know it would take a lot of money and time to renovate the home. Because, it was my great grandmother’s home and the cost was so unbelievably low, we were willing to put in the resources to rebuild. I was ..read more

This week, we went back over to Big Mama’s house to finally begin some sort of work on her home. Because, we purchased the house from Shelby County government there were legal restrictions that we had to adhere to before beginning any kind of work. I shared my frustration briefly on social media about the entire process. It has been very long drawn out and quite irritating. I know COVID through a wrench in the process so I have tried to be understanding and patient. Finally, after reaching out to the Mayor and my realtor, we received our papers in the mail and could begin work. We were prohibi ..read more

I’ve been telling you all that I would get back to sewing and I DID! What better time than now! I shared many times that I wanted to make a high percentage of my clothes this season. I have so much fabric that I collected over the years or have been gifted to me. So when I browsed through my patterns as I prepared to make my fall wardrobe, I found this cardigan pattern by Simplicity. It is labeled cardigan but with a heavier weighted fabric like wool or fleece and a belt, you could totally call it a coat. Speaking of fabric, I went through a stash of fabric that was donated to me to make this ..read more

Raising a Bilingual Child with Autism

When Jasiel’s psychologist gave me his autism and speech delay diagnosis, I felt a range of emotions. Two that I vividly remember to this day were defeat and guilt. I felt that my strong desire to raise a bilingual child had caused his inability to communicate. I thought I was confusing him. Maybe I wasn’t speaking a wide range of words to him in either language. It had caused his speech delay. Do you know what made it worse? His psychologist was actually in agreement with me. In a demeaning and dismissive manner, he ended his session with us by stating, “He’s in America. You need to be speaki ..read more

An Afternoon at Memphis Chess Club

One of the things I really love is exploring new places in Memphis. Contrary to the complaints, Memphis has a lot of places to experience and enjoy. In my opinion, experiences don't have to be grand events with all the frills. Sometimes, just finding a place to learn something new, meet cool people, or just have a glass of wine and work can be a rich experience. Although I've been to Memphis Chess Club numerous times, I felt I should give it a complete story. Many cool places such as this chill spot need more recognition. Memphis Chess Club located downtown on Madison Ave has a cool laid back ..read more

Fall Detoxifying Herbal Facial Steam

Herbal facial steams are an amazing way to detoxify pores. They work so well loosening dirt and oil and removing toxins. What I also love about facial steams is they are a great way to prep the skin for mask and facial treatments. You can start with a really fresh extremely clean face. This allows the ingredients in your masks to really penetrate the skin. An added bonus, the at home steams make you feel like you are getting a spa experience in the comfort of your home. Gather fresh herbs from your garden or your local market and give yourself the gift of self care with a facial steam. WHAT Y ..read more

Crispy and Delicious: The Perfect Fried Cabbage Recipe from I Heart Soul Food Cookbook

I grew up watching women cook in the kitchen. I don't know if you all know or remember me sharing the story about my 82 year old great aunt raising me so that my mom could pursue her dreams of becoming a flight attendant? Most of my memories of her were her getting up and cooking me whatever my heart desired and then we’d plop down on the couch and watch the “stories” (soap operas), Jeopardy, or Wheel of Fortune. Back to my heart’s desires, I always felt so loved when she would randomly make me a hot toddy, brim (that’s a fish), bread pudding, or fried cabbage. My Auntie began suffering from ..read more
