New York City EMS workers will be provided with body armor and the chance to take self defense classes. This action was taken due to the number of attacks on EMTs, sometime fatal, that have occurred over the last few years.
The armor will be bullet resistant and stab proof.
In 2022 EMTs were attacked over 360 times.
(Our local EMT school already provides 16 hours of self defense classes to student EMTs. This is included in the 240 hours needed to obtain EMT certification ..read more

FF brain trust,
Where will I find collar brass that is large-er, like FDNY wears? Interweb searches reveal mostly 15/16" insignia. I'd like larger, either scramble/medallion or just the scramble for my Class-A lapels.
Our chief has a scramble, which is about 1-1/2". Says the brass was a gift; he doesn't know where to find them in that size.
I don't know why I'm thinking about this now - I'm old in this business and likely out soon... maybe I'm lookin' to be buried in the Class-A with a...

I have a bunch if 5, to 10lb ABC ones. Dated @2007-12. It looks like @$40 to have them recharged. But much more if any parts needed. Insurance seems to think +10yr old worthless.
So I looked at new ones. Figure 10lb only. Twice the ability, not that much more cost.
I found Kiddy Pro 460 $67. UL 4A:60B:C|Class: ABC|Cylinder
Is this a important difference?
Am I wrong only considering 10 lb abc?

I am sort of amazed kid was booted, but think 18 y/o with little education, and people skill is only danger to self, and others.

Are those 40" x 40" fiberglass fire blankets worth having for a very small fire, or are they a scam? They aren't expensive and seem simple to use to smother a little fire.
I don't mean instead of smoke detectors and fire extinguishers, just in addition to those other items. Seems they'd be faster and easier to use if a skillet or grill blazed up, for example. My DIL had that happen one time.
I like including a little unexpected or unusual gift with my regular Christmas gifts to my...
