For repetitive tasks and for tasks where you need a sharp crisp edge every time. No need to sharpen if the blade gets dull, just replace the blade or snap off the top ..read more

I'm going to pick up a worksharp precision elite knife sharpener. I know the new upgraded version is nicer but for me I don't think it's necessary to spend that much. I do like the idea of the angle gauge that comes with it though. Is there a way I can get that angle gauge from worksharp or something similar from aftermarket. It may not be necessary at all for my use of just touching up work knifes and edc knifes. Just figured I'd ask cause I like the idea ..read more

Buck Slim Select vs AUS 8 RAT 2..

I live near Boston and the blade length laws are restrictive. The only knives I own with blade lengths over 3 inches are the ZT0450 at 3.25 inches and the AUS8 RAT 1 at 3.5 inches. I have a gift certificate at nearby Cabela's and I want to buy an EDC pocketknife with a blade length not to exceed 3 inches. After seeing what they sell I've narrowed it down to the RAT 2 AUS8 and the Buck 112 Slim Select with their famous heat treated 420hc steel. Given my positive experience with the RAT 1 I... Going to be transferring to NYC for a few months for work, are any pocket knives legal to carry on your person? IIRC they would flick pocket knives really hard to claim you had a gravity knife if it opened, but my understanding is that the law was repealed. So would a non-assisted locking folder under 4" be okay to EDC as long as it's in a pocket and nothing is visible ..read more

After some research I'm interested in ordering a customized Buck 503 Prince because of the Boston Blade Length requirements of 2.5 inches. I plan to carry it in my pocket in a leather slip as a Gentleman folder. There are several options including satin or mirror finish blade and with or without rivets along with handle material choices. What would everyone recommend as far as these options are concerned? Thank you in advance ..read more

Taiwan knife production

I got into collecting knives a few years ago and like every good obsessive compulsive, I have amassed an unhealthy number of pocket knives in a short time. Mainly a Spyderco guy but recently caught the Cold Steel bug. One thing I noticed is that every single pocket knife from Cold Steel (Taiwanese made) has been absolutely perfect. Grinds, action, sharpening, blade centering, all perfectly spot on. Its uncanny. It’s the same with the Taiwanese made Spydercos. The CO produced Spydies... Taiwan knife production ..read more
