The Blk Food Baltimore campaign is an initiative that I personally launched and executed in support of Baltimore’s black owned businesses. This campaign is funded by me with some funds from individual donors of the Baltimore community. #BlkFoodBaltimore Hi everybody! Happy BLACK HISTORY MONTH! This year, I wanted to do something special for black history month in support of black owned restaurants. In the summer of 2020, black owned businesses in general including restaurants got their much-deserved flowers and support as a response to the murder of George Floyd. Since then, especially given we’re in a pandemic and of course other factors play into it, some, not all restaurants have seen a decline in business. So, let’s do this, From Feb1st-Feb28th when you visit a black owned restaurant, share a picture on YOUR social medi ..read more

Maryland Style Crab Cake Recipe by a Baltimorean

I am about to show you how to make THE BEST crab cakes at home. If you are not from Maryland, consider these the best crab cakes you will ever have. Marylanders, these crab cakes will at the very least be in your “top 5.” Below are two recipes. One with a little filler (breading) and one without. You will hear a lot of Marylanders say, they like their crab cake with absolutely no filler. In reality, most like a little breading because it helps hold the crab cake together. If you are making these for the first time, I highly recommend using the recipe with “little filler”. Maryland Style Crab ..read more

I’ve been afraid to say it for years but after tonight’s dinner, here is my official statement: I like zoodles better than spaghetti noodles! Zoodles/zucchini noodles hold much more flavor and don’t leave you feeling bloated after two and a half bites. Facts are facts, people. One of my favorite meals to make with these spiraled, green delights is simple and takes less than 10 minutes to prepare. To get started, grab your veggie spiralizer, two pans, one bowl, a colander and the ingredients below. Whatcha need (ingredients): EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) 1 lb shrimp 5 zucchini 4 cloves of ga ..read more

Maryland steamed crabs from Conrads in Parkville, MD. My first “Baltimore post” should be about crabs or crab cakes. It’s the proper thing for a Baltimore food blogger to do. But COVID-19 is here impacting our lives in ways we would have never imagined 6 months ago. So for Baltimore post #1, please enjoy the crabby photos while reading about food-related ways to support our community and how to access food resources. While some restaurants are choosing to remain open for takeout/delivery, others have temporarily closed with the COVID-19 mandates in place to keep Marylanders safe and healthy ..read more

Back in Boston

I will be spending a fair amount of time in Boston this year! There is something extra exciting about discovering the best eats and drinks in another city. On my most recent trip to Boston, I went to Stephanie’s on Newbury as it was highly recommended by coworkers. THEY LOVE STEPHANIE’S but after seeing some of the scathing Yelp reviews, I was a little hesitant to get my hopes up. Don’t believe everything you read online because I had a woooooonderful dining experience from start to finish. To start, I had their guac and for the entree (hear me out), I had the Short Rib Bourguignon. Weird comb ..read more
