See who’s making waves in Suffolk early in the 2024 season… Mirabella Altebrando, Miller Place. Altebrando has been dissecting defenses for the 6-2 Panthers in 2024. Altebrando had 33 assists on the season, and is an uncommitted junior who is on a tear of late.  Mckenzie Moeller (Wofford W. Lax Commit)  has 42 points on the year for a red-hot Rocky Point team. RP only has 1 loss on the year to a very talented Sayville group. See who’s impressing the LILJ early season out in Nassau County… Brooke Sullivan Pagano, Hicksville, Brooke is averaging almost 6 points per game. Just a Sophomore, Sullivan-Pagano has her Comets at 6-2, with big wins over Island Trees & Division. Julie Shaughnessy is leading Syosset with 31 points on the year. Another super sophomore, Shaughnessy is moving quickly from being a Nike Running All-America, to one of Nassau’s biggest threats on the offensive. See who’s impressing the LILJ early season out in Suffolk County… Kole (w/ a K) Lemke is a Senior from Hauppauge that is straight rolling this season with 27 points from the midfield, leading his boys to a 3-1 start in 2024. Lemke is averaging nearly 7 pts / game.  Griffin Sumwalt has his boys at Riverhead off to a hot start. This Senior is 13G & 5A from the attack for the Wave. High School lacrosse if finally underway on the Island. A few players are standing-out in Nassau, leading their teams to some gritty wins and impressive records. See who has stood out thus far below. Jack Mccormack (St. John’s Commit), Mineola Senior is averaging over 7 points per game, leading Mineola to a 3-0 start on the season. Coming in at number one in the LILJ top 24 preseason rankings, it’s the national powerhouse the St. Anthony’s Friars who enter the season once again as the reigning CSHAA champions. Now to the number one team in the LILJ top 24 preseason rankings, it’s the St. Anthony’s Friars who are historically one of the national powerhouses in the country. Last year they were once again CHSAA Champions where they held on for an 8-7 win against Sacred Heart in the championship game. As we now get to the final three teams in the LILJ top 24 preseason rankings, the Garden City Trojans enter the rankings at number three. The last two seasons they have proven to be the best team in the state of New York in Class B, winning consecutive state championships under Head Coach Steve Finnell, with last year’s coming against Victor in an epic 9-8 game. For the last three seasons they have been the team to beat in Nassau Class B with three straight appearances to at least the Long Island Championship. The Wildcats who enter the season as the defending county champions of Suffolk Class C come in at number four in the LILJ top 24 preseason rankings.
