At Rehoboth Beach Country Club Every once in a while as a photographer you shoot a wedding that you love, for people that you love working for, in places that you love spending time. It’s rare (shocker but, not every wedding is magical), but when it happens, it makes this job feel like something that isn’t quite a job. It feels like I am getting away with some sort of crime and I have to keep my head low so they don’t find me out and pull me back into the real world of 9-5’s and bosses you hate. So when that wedding that you loved [Thanks, Kaci :)]so much refers you to another wedding [Thanks ..read more

At Vanderwende Acres I’ve known Will along time. So long in fact, one of my first jobs was working in his Grandfathers rhubarb fields when I was 13. I was assigned to pull all the weeds of never ending rows of rhubarb. It’s a skill that I was naturally terrible at and to this day I still hate pulling weeds in my own yard. But we’ve grown up together and his family as treated me as an extension of their family over the year so when I found out he was engaged I was secretly praying they’d call me. Sure enough, Sam and I got along great and things were a go. I like these kinds of weddings. I like ..read more

Ahhh, spring! Sunshine, flowers blooming, shorts get pulled out of the bottom drawer, oh and the occasional snow storm! 70 degrees on Friday, snowing on Saturday. That’s spring in Philly for ya… It also means back to work for me. I love this time of year, I’m not beat down by endless hours of editing, I’m rested, and I’m in a good place. New beginnings, new ideas, new styles, new everything. Victoria & Matt were some of my favorite people I got to meet over the last year. Completely go-with-the-flow kinda people, completely present, completely engaged in what is in front of them. I loved t ..read more

This is the most remarkable fall that I can remember since I have been photographing weddings. I’ve never had a run of amazing weather, light, places, situations, and people that were inviting, genuine, and wanting me to have as good of time as any of their guests. Maybe it’s the Covid bounce back, maybe I’m just not taking it for granted, maybe it actually is a run of good luck, but whatever it is, I am really enjoying this fall more than any other period of my career I can remember. Fallon & Dan kept that trend alive by getting married at one of the most beautiful venues I have been luck ..read more

A Pandemic Wedding Story. I hate for every single one of my blog posts to have an underlying COVID theme, but what doesn’t have an underlying COVID theme these days? What isn’t splashed a bit by its wide rolling ripple effect? It’s a pervasive story everywhere, but especially in any arena that is about people gathering to celebrate something they love. And what, if nothing else, is a wedding? This story is a pretty typical one. Well, typical, aside from the tornado that banished them to the basement of wedding number one which happened to take place during a global pandemic with a brand new an ..read more

Baywood Greens Disclaimer, I can be a little overdramatic. Maybe that’s not the right word. Introspective, yeah, I like introspective better. Sounds less bitchy. Late at night when I’m up editing my mind wanders to the “why” of things and I don’t want to overstate this, but I think that a rainy wedding day is a major character test. The question that chauffeured me to that conclusion is a fair one: How do you react when things completely out of your control go wrong? It’s a fair & poignant question, I think. Do you get really upset and have a glum attitude all day and worry about your hair ..read more

At The Oaks It’s been a long time since I’ve been on a dance floor so lively that the people tested the structural integrity of the venue. It was refreshing. This was something like the 5th wedding date Jen & Sean had picked due to COVID-19 rescheduling and they are living proof that patience and persistence pays and with new variants and consequently shutdowns looming, it may have been now or never. I feel like I’ve created a bit of a deeper bond with my clients that have gone through this rescheduling process. It’s a total mess, but we endured it together and I thoroughly enjoyed getting ..read more

At The Tune & Fork Inn There are a few venues that I shoot at a lot. I love them. I love the relationships that I have formed with them and getting to know the owners and seeing familiar places over and over again. I also love going new places. There’s that little bit of magic and little bit of mystery that comes with walking into a completely new venue. I live for that stuff. So when I walked into the Tune & Fork Inn for the first time I was floored. Absolutely astonished. I mean, get outta here. There are cool old instruments everywhere, there’s funky furniture and funky wallpaper an ..read more
