A modern twist on heirloom children’s portraiture   I love how black & white portraits capture the sweet innocence of childhood in such a simplistic and heirloom-esque way. As I personally value this style of memory keeping for my children, and other parents have expressed interest in preserving their own children's childhood memories in the same way, I wanted to create a space in my studio to make this possible. Introducing The Childhood Collective - A modern heirloom portrait event in Minden, Nebraska These unique sessions are intended to provide an opportunity for your kiddos to ..read more

Let Your Land Be the backdrop to your photo session I absolutely loved my time with the Smith family. They took me to several beautiful spots on their land. We ended the session in this idealistic Nebraskan scene with cows, a pond and rolling hills. We didn’t get much sun, as it was hiding most of the time but between the wind and the family’s love for each other it was magical ..read more

MEANINGFUL FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY IS MORE THAN LOOKING STRAIGHT AT THE CAMERA AND SMILING… Sure, we’ll get those posed Christmas card images, but then we move on to the main goal which is to capture your family’s heart; your connection, your love, laughter and interactions with each other. I will help guide you through the session, with my biggest goal to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and relaxed. It’s important to make it a fun and meaningful experience for the family, one that leaves everyone loving the experience of getting photos taken! We will explore, tell jokes, play games, let dad ..read more

The first family sunset session of the season did not disappoint! Despite the weather not being ideal, sweet little Jovie was such a doll, and brought all the cuteness to this session! Just goes to show you don’t have to have the golden sunlight to make magic in your family photos! Let’s talk about the styling for a minute. She was spot on here wearing soft colors for spring, with some contrasting earthy colors. Soft, neutral and earthy, and the hues work perfectly together and with the backdrop. My favorite part of her styling is all the special little details, especially on baby girl, from t ..read more

Take Me Back to Hatcher Pass! What a beautiful place! The mountain range is breathtaking. There are wild flowers everywhere! Creeks and little lakes nestle in between the mountains. It is a mountainous paradise! Also a super fun place to hike with kids, there are many levels of climbing and hiking to choose from. This was a special session photographing my childhood friend Beth and her darling family! It was fun exploring the great frontier together like we did as kids. Alaska has so much diversity in terrain, it’s seriously a photographers paradise! Well, for maybe two to three months of the ..read more

THE GREENWALT FAMILY IN LAKE TAHOE, CALIFORNIA I had the extreme privilege in attending the Motherhood Collective retreat in Lake Tahoe, California, led by Jodi Lynn Buckles and Stephanie Tetreault; two of the most highly skilled photographers in the industry of motherhood and family photography. What an honor and thrill it was to be taught by them!! This darling family drove down to Lake Tahoe from Salem, Oregon. Even after spending all day in the car these six kids were so calm and chill. I was extremely impressed by them! They were a joy to photograph. We hardly had to tell them to do ..read more

BRANDI & HER GIRLS // SUNRISE SESSION OVER LAKE TAHOE, CALIFORNIA // NEBRASKA FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER We woke up at 4am, drove for what seemed like hours desperately trying to find our model's home. Tensions were high as the sun was coming up and we knew we still had to hike up the mountain to get to our shooting location. If we missed sunrise over the lake it was going to be a huge disappointment for 11 eager and sleep deprived photographers.  We were told it was likely we might run into black bears on the hike up...Thankfully we found the house, briskly hiked up the mountain (oh my good ..read more
