Last week, the former NAD President Jenny Buechner posted a vlog on her personal Facebook wall that accused the new NAD President, who is Lisa Rose, of stalking and harassing her when they were at Gallaudet University 20 years ago. Buechner said it got so bad that she had to withdraw while she was a graduate student and that she felt trapped because Rose was in a position of power as a dorm CRE (Coordinator of Residence Education), which is the top administrator for any particular dorm building. Rose was the CRE of Ballard West (formerly Krug Hall). Buechner also said Rose fostered a toxic env ..read more

Massive AT&T hack AT&T said the call and text message records of tens of millions of AT&T cellphone customers were hacked and exposed. It affects calls and texts made from around October 2022 to January 2023. Target to stop accepting personal checks CBS News reported that Target will stop accepting personal checks as payment starting July 15. Target said it’s because very few people use this form of payment today. CBS explained that in 2009 and earlier, many people regularly used personal checks to purchase things. Today, only about half of Americans write checks at least once a year. Most have shifted to electronic payments such as Venmo or Zelle. Older Americans still write checks — about 1 in 5 people over 66 write several checks each month. So if you shop at Target and use checks for payment, b ..read more

Alex (Daily Moth): I met with the WFD (World Federation of the Deaf) President Dr. Joseph Murray. I asked him what the WFD is doing in war zones in Ukraine and Gaza (Palestine) and Israel. See his response. Joseph Murray: The WFD, whenever we see disasters, be it flooding, war, or other incidents, we always reach out to that country’s Deaf association. We offer our help. Transcript: Do you know the expression, “elephant in the room?” It means that there is a big, controversial topic or a problem that everyone knows about but does not talk about it.
