Can you help me understand why the appearance of the pec on a muscly chest has a clear horizontal-ish cutoff, whereas diagrams of the pectoralis major muscle seem to show a much ‘pointier’, fan-shaped muscle? I'm not great with me anatomical terms. Thankya! submitted by /u/ausflora [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Stomach histology ID

I have a slide with 3 tissue samples taken from the stomach and am having trouble identifying the areas. When I contacted customer service, they said "the sections are mounted in the order they occur in the body- cardiac, pylori, and fundic" and "the cardiac will show a little esophagus". I thought the pyloric section connects to the small intestine, and so it should be last not in the middle? I'm trying to look for a transition in the sample but I think both #1 and #3 look like they have a change in muscularis thickness, and #2 shows a change in the mucosa. Not sure which indicates the ..read more

Cut myself to the bone (?) Gross but fascinating

Hello there reddit, long time lurker and seldom poster on here. I enjoy the posts on here and hope this one is an acceptable contribution. I cut my hand the other day with a knife and went to urgent care because it absolutely needed stitches. I ended up with 3, and luckily since it was a recently sharpened knife the cut was clean and easy to realign. My question is what's happening with my anatomy here when I'm flexing my thumb? I know a good amount of first aid and anatomy but not necessarily what I'm looking at and was curious as to the muscle/tendon/etc that's making it's out of skin debut ..read more

Hi, I’ve had student subscription to Complete Anatomy for about 6 months and it’s always worked perfectly, however the past 2 days I have been unable to zoom in using the touchpad on my laptop. I deleted and reinstalled with updated version to no avail. The laptop touchpad zoom function works for other apps but still not working for Complete Anatomy. I have contacted support and waiting on reply. Has anyone else had this issue? submitted by /u/Au-Revoir-Shoshana [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I have to trace the blood flow of oxygenated blood to the liver and I want to make sure I got it correct. I was feeling fairly confident until I got past the abdominal aorta. R. atrium -> Tricuspid valve -> R. ventricle -> Pulmonary valve -> Pulmonary arteries -> Lungs -> Pulmonary veins -> L. Atrium -> Bicuspid valve -> L. ventricle -> Aortic valve -> Aorta -> Abdominal aorta -> Celiac trunk -> Common hepatic a. -> Proper hepatic a. -> R. & L. hepatic arteries -> Smaller arteries -> Arterioles -> Capillaries submitted by /u/Malefi ..read more

I had this Schwannoma (benign tumor of the nerve) removed from my right forearm last year. I asked the neurosurgeon for a pic, and he showed me this on his PC, so I took a pic of his pic. Also included a pic of the visible lump on my arm before the surgery and a pic of the scar a couple weeks after the surgery. submitted by /u/tyoung89 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
