5 of 12! That leaves seven more months in the year 2023. As always, time amazes me. It's true it goes faster as you age...unless you are waiting in a line somewhere...then it can take forever. I'm finding a bit more time to create lately, which is good. How do you handle balancing daily life with your creating? Do you have any tricks or tips to share with your fellow artists or craftsmen? Let's share...send your tips to pwmblogeditor@gmail.com
This issue brings you another great video from Amanda Novaes, to accompany her project in the June 2023 issue of Painting World Magazine.

Today brings an end to our Steampunk challenge. I'm excited about the upcoming APC Expo convention in Chattanooga, TN in June of 2024. I took photos I have saved on my computer and printed them out in black and white. I trimmed them with a white edge and then, along with the other 'findings' I pulled from my personal stash I glued it all togeth ..read more

Today's journal is a continuation of our May 1 journal. We left off after adding the collage paper to the page.
Now we are going to add color using DecoArt© Media Acrylics and DecoArt© Americana Acrylics.
For the base colors, I chose the Media Acrylics Burnt Umber and Phthalo Green-Yellow. Wetting the surface I then thinned the paint with water and slip-slapped across the page coming off the sides as shown in the photos. Overlap the two colors as seen in the photos. Add darker strips of paint here and there.
I had originally planned on painting the silhouettes directly to the surface but de ..read more

BUTTERFLY FLY AWAY
By Margaret Riley
Who doesn’t like to sit outside on a summer day watching a butterfly float in the gentle breeze and seeing it land on flower after flower drinking in the warm nectar? With this painting, you will create a butterfly on lightweight watercolor paper or heavy cardstock, and apply adhesive foams to the backside to make it appear it is flying by the sunflower. The background is done with stencils and a rubber stamp design. A wooden tag can have anything written on it, and the bow is 3-D that you’ll create. Let’s get those brushes ready to create this 3-D paintin ..read more
